Trivia
- The Brazillian dub notably erroneously translated Ash's Sceptile's Leaf Blade attack as Razor Leaf, despite translating the attack correctly when it was a Grovyle.
- Sceptile has the highest base Speed of all starter Pokémon final forms.
Origin
Appearance-wise, this Pokémon resembles the dinosaur known as dilophosaurus. It is also based on an iguana.
Name origin
Sceptile's name is a play on reptile and sceptre, perhaps referring to the golden seeds on its back, or possibly sectile, referring to the long, sharp blades growing on its body. Its Japanese name may be based on 樹海 jukai, abundant leafage.
In other languages
- German: Gewaldro
- French: Jungko - A combination of jungle and gecko.
- Korean: 나무킹 Namuking - A combination of tree and the word "king".
