Rock Blast (Japanese: ロックブラスト Rock Blast) is a damage-dealing Rock-type multi-hit move introduced in Generation III.

Contents

Effect

Generation III

Rock Blast inflicts damage, hitting the target 2-5 times per use. There is a 37.5% chance that it will hit 2 times, a 37.5% chance that it will hit 3 times, a 12.5% chance that it will hit 4 times, and a 12.5% chance that it will hit 5 times. Each attack made has an equal chance to land a critical hit.

Rock Blast will end immediately if it breaks a Substitute (Except in Pokemon XD). Bide and Counter will only acknowledge the last hit of this move.

Generation IV

The effects are the same as the previous generation, except it will continue attacking after a Substitute is broken.

Generation V

Accuracy increased from 80 to 90. Unlike previous generations, if Focus Sash, Focus Band, or Sturdy activate before the last hit is dealt, the following hit will cause the defending Pokémon to faint. Each hit will also cause Weak Armor to activate.
