History

As a Cranidos

It first appeared in Shapes of Things to Come! as a Cranidos. Roark used it against Paul. It knew many powerful attacks such as Zen Headbutt and Flamethrower. Cranidos managed to defeat Paul's Chimchar before losing to his Elekid, but not without giving a fierce battle.

It again appeared in A Gruff Act to Follow!. This time Roark used it against Ash. It defeated Ash's Aipom and lost to Turtwig, but not before weakening both it and Pikachu enough so that Roark's Onix could finish them off, thus defeating Ash Ketchum.

In Wild in the Streets!, it was revealed by Roark that he found Cranidos's Fossil when he was still a kid, and it was the first Pokémon the scientists in Oreburgh had restored from a Fossil. Later on, Cranidos evolved into Rampardos during a fight with Team Rocket. Ash then challenged Roark for a rematch in O'er the Rampardos we Watched!. Rampardos managed to easily defeat Ash's Aipom again along with Pikachu and almost defeated Turtwig, but Turtwig managed to emerge victorious once again due to quick thinking on Ash's part, earning Ash the Coal Badge.

It appeared again in Ancient Family Matters!, where it battled against Byron's Bastiodon. However, the match was interrupted due to Team Rocket trying to steal Byron's Fossil collection. It then teamed up with Bastiodon to send the trio blasting off and retrieve the Fossils. It was seen in a flashback in League Unleashed!.

Rampardos also appeared alongside Roark during the credits of Zoroark: Master of Illusions.

In the games

Cranidos—and, in rematches in Platinum and Pokémon World Tournament, Rampardos—is Roark's main Pokémon in all the games he appears in; that is, in Diamond and Pearl, Pokémon Platinum, and Black 2 and White 2. He is also his highest-leveled Pokémon, as a Cranidos, in the Gym battle against him, though this place is taken by Roark's Tyranitar in rematches at the Battleground.

As an Egg and later Cranidos

Roark's Rampardos first appeared in Putting a Crimp in Kricketot walking out of the Oreburgh Mine along with its Trainer. In A Conk on Cranidos's Cranium Roark uses it in a Gym battle against Platinum's Piplup. After it managed to do heavy damage to her with a super-effective Shock Wave, it was defeated after she used Water Pulse to confuse it, causing it to hurt itself and eventually faint.

Cranidos later reappeared in Brash Bronzong I where it evolved into a Rampardos.

It was later seen being used in the final battle against Saturn, Mars, and Jupiter.
