Location of Postwick in Galar.

Postwick (Japanese: ハロンタウン Furlong Town) is a small town located at the southern end of the Galar region. It is the hometown of the Galarian player character and their rival, Hop. To the north is Route 1 and to the west is the Slumbering Weald.

Slogan

A farming town since days of old, where people and their Pokémon live in close harmony. (Japanese: から 牧場を み ポケモンたちと ともにらす A farming town since days of old, where people and Pokémon live together.)

Places of interest

Player's house

Main article: Player's house

The player character lives in this house with their Mum and her Munchlax.

Hop and Leon's house

Hop and Leon live here with their parents and grandparents. After fetching Leon from Wedgehurst, the Champion will give the player and Hop their first partner Pokémon at the front yard.

After the player becomes the new Champion, Leon will leave a Poké Ball containing a Charmander on the floor in his room on the second floor with a letter. This Charmander can Gigantamax once it evolves into Charizard.

Demographics

Postwick's population is 5 (not counting the player, Hop and Leon), likely owing to its lack of amenities such as a stadium or Pokémon Center and its relative isolation. This makes it the smallest town in Galar as well as the smallest town in the entire Pokémon world.

In the anime

Pokémon: Twilight Wings

Postwick appeared in Buddy, where Hop's Wooloo ran away from home and subsequently began exploring the town. Later, Hop ran across the town, asking people if they had seen Wooloo.

In the manga

Pokémon Adventures

Sword & Shield arc

Postwick first briefly appeared in a flashback in Ooh Shiny!! Legendary Equipment. One year earlier, Henry had traveled through the town towards the Slumbering Weald in the hopes of seeing the legendary Rusted Sword and Rusted Shield. As he approached the gate leading to the forest, he saw something falling from the sky and into the forest. Casey suddenly appeared, bashing through the gate with her Pokémon. She had recognized the falling objects as Wishing Stars and wanted to get her hands on them. With both of their objectives lying inside the forest, the two Trainers entered it together.

In PASS40, the effects of the Darkest Day's second coming were shown to have reached Postwick, resulting in the local Pokémon Dynamaxing involuntarily.

Trivia

Concept sketch by Shigeru Ohmori[1]
  • Postwick shares its name with the real-life village of Postwick in the English county of Norfolk.

In a Game Informer feature, Pokémon Sword and Shield director Shigeru Ohmori shared a concept sketch he drew in late September 2016, based on the scenery he saw in Windermere. This sketch ended up serving as a basis for Postwick's design.[1]
