Trivia
- Ponyta and Rapidash are the only Fire-types in the Sinnoh Dex besides the region's starter Pokémon, Chimchar, Monferno, and Infernape. This is especially apparent when the Flint only has Rapidash and Infernape as actual Fire-type Pokémon.
- Ponyta is one of fourteen Pokémon that one could collect foreign Pokédex entries for.
Origin
Ponyta is based on a horse.
Name origin
Ponyta's name is derived from pony. It may also be partly based on the Spanish word "bonita", meaning "beautiful".
