Pokémon Rebirth
From Bulbapedia, the community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia.
Pokémon Rebirth is a Fanfiction series authored primarily by Gemma Bright and Tim Dixon with additional story and art contributions by a wide range of Pokémon fans.
The series was launched in November 2001 as an extension of the Pokémon anime universe. As a result, its events, concepts, locations and existing characters are based on all existing anime episodes and movies. Questions left open to speculation by the anime are often answered using fanon, personal speculation and, at times, information from the games or manga.
As a fan creation, Pokémon Rebirth has been designed to adhere closer to the mechanics of the official Pokémon anime rather than those that give the fanfiction genre its 'home grown' reputation. Essentially, the aim is to show that a fictional spin-off of an existing project written by its fans need not necessarily feel like a fanfic.
Pokémon Rebirth consists of three completed story arcs, with three currently being written and several more in the pipeline. "Ultimatum" was Pokémon Rebirth's original storyline, with work upon it spanning six years in total. The supporting site also contains a world map, Pokédex and information departments listing a large portion of the fan-created concepts that operate within the Pokémon Rebirth universe.
