A Pokémon League, often casually referred to simply as League, is a periodic gathering, typically weekly, of players of the Pokémon Trading Card Game. During a Pokémon League session, players will trade cards and battle for fun. It is not a structured event and there are no real "prizes" for winning. However, each player is issue a card upon registering on which the League Leader will stamp a mark for each game played. If the player plays a certain number of games, they will receive a booster pack of POP cards. After playing an even greater number of games, the player will receive their Badge.

League Leader

A League Leader is the person in charge of maintaining a Pokémon League. The League Leader takes care of organizing times and dates for the League to meet, to make Pokémon Organized Play, abbreviated as POP, aware of the League's existence and to obtain the badges and packs from POP for the players in the League. Additionally, the League Leader is expected to stamp players' cards when they play games, and to hand out the packs and badges once they have been earned.

League Card

A current Pokémon League card

Upon registering with a Pokémon League, players receive a League Card. This card is a piece of cardstock moderately larger than a typical Pokémon card. The number of games played by the player is stamped on it. Each time the player wins a game, two symbols are stamped. Each time a player loses a game, one symbol is stamped. If a player reaches a Poké Ball symbol, they receive a pack of POP cards. If a player reaches the badge symbol at the end, they receive their Badge. Some leagues, however, do not follow these rules; players will receive a POP pack and a badge at each event, as long as the player competed in at least one game.

Badges

Badges obtained in a Pokémon League once a player completes their League Card and reaches the Badge symbol at the end. Badges in the Pokémon League often, but not always, correspond with Badges in the Pokémon games.
