The Cave

The Cave (Japanese: どうくつ Cave) is one of the six major areas of Pokémon Island. It is a cave where strange noises may be heard. Thirteen kinds of Pokémon live within.

The Pokémon sign here is a hidden constellation of Mewtwo.

Native Pokémon

Grimer
At the start of the course, there are openings on the cave walls where this Pokémon can be seen. Pokémon food will make them turn around. Another will appear on a platform below Snap if he takes pictures of the others.
Muk
After being hit with three Pester Balls, a Grimer will evolve into Muk.
Zubat
A few Zubat will fly past Snap as soon as he enters the course. Another is seen deep in the stage, flying around with a Pikachu on it. At the end of the stage, more will fly past Snap.
Bulbasaur
A few of these can be seen on a ledge on the right side of the course. They have unusual faces...
Ditto
After a Bulbasaur is hit with a Pester Ball, it will transform into its true form, Ditto.
Koffing
Three of these can be found, each harassing a Jigglypuff. They leave when hit with a Pester Ball.
Jigglypuff
Three of these can be found, each being harassed by a Koffing. Hitting the three Koffing with Pester Balls will reward Snap with a special shot of a Jigglypuff stage show near the end of the course.
Weepinbell
It is found floating around a pool of water. It's hard to miss it, since the ZERO-ONE does a half-circle around the pool.
Victreebel
Knocking the Weepinbell into the pool will cause it to evolve and screech at Snap.
Magikarp
Throwing an item into the water will cause one to jump out. Unsurprising, since this Pokémon can be found pretty much everywhere but the final stage.
Pikachu
When Snap passes the Weepinbell's pool and heads into the next room, he can see this Pokémon being flown around the ceiling by a Zubat. Hitting the Zubat with a Pester Ball will cause the Pikachu to fall, with balloons appearing from its back, slowing its descent and giving Snap another special shot to photograph. If he does this and hatches Articuno, Snap will see it again, riding on the back of Articuno as a difficult to photograph but very valuable special shot.
Jynx
Two are seen sleeping around a large icy egg. Playing the Poké Flute will wake them up and they'll start doing a magical dance.
Articuno
After waking up the Jynx with the Poké Flute, they will start working their magic on the egg, causing it to hatch into this legendary bird. After it flies off, it's not gone for good; in the final part of the course, it will fly towards Snap.
