2009 Spring Collector's Tins

Released on March 2, 2009, the Spring Collector's Tins for 2009 feature three legendary Pokémon with roles in the recently released Giratina and the Sky Warrior: Shaymin, Dialga, and Giratina. Each of the cards are reprints with alternative artwork. Shaymin LV.X and Giratina LV.X received alternate artwork that was at the time, exclusive outside of Japan. The tins come with four booster packs: two from Platinum, and two from the Diamond & Pearl Series. Prerelease material advertised that each of the tins would also come with a figure from the Pokémon Trading Figure Game, but ongoing delays meant these were not included upon the release of the Collector's Tins.

Rising Rivals Blister Packs

Accompanying the Rising Rivals expansion on May 20, 2009, were two varieties of Three Pack Blisters and a Two Pack Blister. The Three Pack Blisters include either a Carnivine Pokémon G promotional card or Probopass Pokémon G promotional card, as well as two Rising Rivals booster packs, one Majestic Dawn booster pack, and a coin. The coin included varies, with some blisters including a Rayquaza coin, and others a coin with Energy symbols. The Two Pack Blisters include a Rotom card with the Cracked Ice Holofoil treatment, the first promotional card to feature it. As such, this treatment gained the colloquial term Rotom holo within the community until the release of the Pokémon Trading Card Game Online, when it was officially labelled. The Two Pack Blisters also include one Rising Rivals booster pack, one booster pack from either POP Series 7, POP Series 8, or POP Series 9, and a coin with Energy symbols.

Platinum Player's Guide

Main article: Platinum Player's Guide (TCG)

Also released on May 20, 2009, was the Platinum Player's Guide. The guide comes packaged with a Black Star promotional Toxicroak Pokémon G card, which originated as a Japanese promotional card that came with the visual guide for Galactic's Conquest, Platinum's Japanese equivalent. The guide itself includes complete card galleries for the Platinum and Rising Rivals expansions, summaries for each card, suggestions for combinations, and recommendations on how to integrate them into decks. It also provides a deck list for the specially-created Toxic SP deck, which incorporates the accompanying Toxicroak promotional card.

Arceus Collector's Tins

Originally scheduled to be released on December 2, 2009, the first wave of Arceus Collector's Tins were brought forward to coincide with the release of the Arceus expansion on November 4, 2009. The contents of the tins also differed between the North American release and those released internationally. The North American release came packaged with three Arceus booster packs, two booster packs from a selection of older Platinum Series and Diamond & Pearl Series expansions, and one POP Series 9 booster pack, for a total of six. The international release however, only included four booster packs in total: two from the Arceus expansion, and two from a selection of older Platinum Series and Diamond & Pearl Series expansions. Both tins included the same alternate artwork Arceus promotional card.

The second wave of Arceus Collector's Tins were released on December 16, 2009, containing another alternate artwork Arceus promotional card. The contents were, this time, the same for tins released in North America and internationally, each one containing two Arceus booster packs, and two booster packs from a selection of older Platinum Series and Diamond & Pearl Series expansions.

Value Box

Another product released quietly in stores such as Target during November 2009, the Value Boxes made two more promotional cards with the Cracked Ice Reverse Holofoil treatment available: Flareon Pokémon 4 and Gliscor Pokémon 4. The boxes contain one POP Series 7 booster pack, and one late Diamond & Pearl Series booster pack; despite the front of the packaging advertising the boxes include a Platinum Series booster pack.

Platinum Series Collection

As the last Platinum Series item, the Platinum Series Collection released in December 2009 includes booster packs from all four expansions, comprising two Arceus booster packs, one Supreme Victors booster pack, one Rising Rivals booster pack, and one Platinum booster pack. A Dialga card, a Palkia card, and a Giratina card, all of which could be obtained in previously released Platinum Series merchandise, were included. A copy of the North American 'premier issue' of Pokémon Official Magazine-the only issue of the publication released in North America-was also included. The final item included was an Arceus figure, which was also the Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver pre-order bonus in several countries.
