Vs. Cacnea (Japanese: Vs サボネア Vs Sabonea or 新たなる物語 A New Story) is the 181st round of the Pokémon Adventures manga and also the first one in the Ruby & Sapphire chapter.

Synopsis

The story starts in Hoenn region. Norman, the new Gym Leader of Petalburg City is training with several Pokémon (Duskull, Volbeat, Duskull, Beautifly, and Cacnea). Gabby and Ty interview him. Norman states that his family is moving from Johto today.

Meanwhile, his wife watches him on TV as driving the van. She tells their son, Ruby, that his father is on tv but Ruby doesn't want to watch it.

Ruby is knitting hats for his Ralts, Poochyena, and Skitty. He also cuts his Poochyena's long fur.

Suddenly, the van is stuck in mud. Ruby's mom asks him to help her. But Ruby refuses because he does want to get his Pokémon dirty. But his Ralts, called Ruru, uses Confusion to lift the van from mud.
