POP Series 2 is the name given to a special set of cards for the Pokémon Trading Card Game. It was released through Pokémon Organized Play events or affiliated products.
Information
POP Series 2 was the second Pokémon Organized Play promotional set released by Nintendo and the first to use the series' general six-month rota, although it was available for closer to eight months due to POP Series 3 not being available until April 2006. POP Series 2 was also the first promotional set in the series to be shown at the Pokémon TCG World Championships in 2005. Every other set now follows this tradition due to the six-month rota.
Trivia
- POP Series 2 booster packs became more widely available in the 2005-06 season, appearing at sanctioned events and in many Value Packs.
- The booster design for the set features Venusaur.
- All of the rare cards have holographic versions and were available through several waves of promotional items, such as Value Packs and Collector's Tins. Celebi ex is the most widely distributed POP Series holographic variant, available in many promotional items.
