Officer Jenny's Growlithe (Japanese: ジュンサーのガーディ Junsar's Gardie) is a Pokémon owned by many Officer Jennys in the Pokémon anime, specifically the Officer Jennys active in the Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh regions.

Officer Jenny's Growlithe in their first appearance

Officer Jenny's Growlithe have been used in crime solving and serve as police dogs throughout much of the Pokémon world. As such, they are frequently seen outside of their Poké Balls. Growlithe debuted in The Case of the K-9 Caper!, where Ash and his friends met up with an Officer Jenny who trained Growlithe to act as police dogs. In this episode, the many Growlithe helped fend off Team Rocket.

In The Fourth Round Rumble, Growlithe used Flamethrower to shoot down Team Rocket's Meowth balloon.

In Don't Touch That 'dile, Growlithe was used to help locate a Totodile that was stolen by Team Rocket.

In An EGG-sighting Adventure!, Growlithe was used to locate Ash's missing Egg.

Pokémon the Series: Ruby and Sapphire

In A Poached Ego!, Growlithe was used to help catch the Pokémon poacher, Rico. Growlithe also appeared in the episode The Spheal of Approval.

In The Ribbon Cup Caper, Growlithe was used to prevent Team Rocket from escaping the S.S. St. Flower with the Ribbon Cup, which was intended for the winner of the Hoenn Grand Festival.

In All Dressed Up with Somewhere to Go!, an Officer Jenny wore a Growlithe hat during the Pokémon Dress-Up Contest, both as a reference to her Pokémon and to follow the cosplaying theme. Growlithe also physically appeared in the episode.

In Pokémon Ranger and the Kidnapped Riolu! (Part 2), Growlithe fought alongside Ash's friends and Solana against J's client's henchmen.

In Beating the Bustle and Hustle!, Growlithe participated in a fake Sinnoh Pokémon Hustle set up by Team Rocket. After Officer Jenny caught up to Azure and Crimson, Growlithe fought against Azure's Drowzee and managed to defeat it.

Pokémon the Series: Black & White

In BWS01, Growlithe was used to battle a Gyarados before it swam away.

Pokémon Journeys: The Series

In Ivysaur's Mysterious Tower!, Growlithe assisted Officer Jenny as she was holding traffic for a group of Ivysaur to cross the road.

In Dreams Are Made of These!, Growlithe helped stop a group of Pokémon from fighting by using its Roar to scare them away. Ash then proceeded to introduce Growlithe to the group he was in charge of during a Pokémon Orienteering competition.

In A Little Rocket R & R!, Growlithe and Officer Jenny showed up to stop the Matori Matrix, but they escaped.

In Sleuths for Truth!, Growlithe and Officer Jenny tried to find the thief who's stealing the electricity from the houses all around Vermilion City together with Inspector Decker. With Ash and Goh, they found out that the responsible is Team Rocket, who wanted to feed Morpeko with it, and Growlithe used Swift to try to stop their car.

In Getting to the Heart of it All!, Growlithe and Officer Jenny tried to track down a Banette that was stealing heart-shaped objects from people's homes.

Personality and characteristics

Growlithe as a puppy

Growlithe are very loyal towards each Officer Jenny, as shown in a flashback in their debut episode depicting one of the Growlithe as a puppy.

Growlithe are the signature Pokémon of the Officer Jennys working in the Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh regions, but they will sometimes use different Pokémon. The Officer Jenny in Mutiny in the Bounty! used Growlithe's evolved form, Arcanine. In some parts of the world, police forces will have special Pokémon teams, such as Spinarak in Spinarak Attack. The Officer Jennys of other regions use different Pokémon as Growlithe are not generally found there.
