Release information
This card was released as a promotional card. In Japan, it was awarded to the third place winners of the first, second and third Official Pokémon Card Game Tournaments held in 1997, 1998 and 1999 respectively. The card was never released in English.
Trivia
This card is also popularly known as the Pikachu Trophy No.3 card, in reference to the illustration. It is one of the rarest cards in the world, with only one copy of the card produced over the course of three years, meaning only three exist. At the height of the Pokémon phenomenon in the West, auctions of this card saw it reach roughly $8,000.
