Murgatroyd is a Head of Anime and Shipping at Bulbagarden, as well as a moderator of those two topics at SPPf. He is often regarded as one of the foremost experts in the original Japanese version of the Pokémon anime amongst the English-speaking Pokémon fan community.

Murgatroyd started out at Pojo, where he wrote the Advice to Aspiring Authors. He was also a moderator at the TPM forums.

He has a degree in mathematics with a minor in the Japanese language, and occasionally posts to correct misconceptions about mathematicians and mathematics in general.
