Mt. Battle Area 1 is the first area of Mt. Battle, which contains zones 1 to 10. In Pokémon Colosseum, during the first run-through in Story Mode, opposing Trainers use Pokémon with levels from 15 to 20. In Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness, the levels range from 9 to 13.

The player first visits Mt. Battle to learn about the location of Cipher Lab from Vander. However, Vander is the middle of training, and challenges cannot be made. The player will go through the first three zones to reach Vander. Since the battles aren't part of the Mt. Battle challenge, the opponents will yield cash prizes after being defeated.
