Manaphy (Japanese: マナフィ Manaphy) is a Pokémon which was the star of Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea. It was voiced by 白鳥由里 Yuri Shiratori in Japanese and by Michele Knotz in English.
Ash and company met up with a Pokémon ranger, Jack Walker, who was on the mission to protect the egg of Manaphy.
When Manaphy finally hatched, the first thing it saw was May and thus it thought of her as its mother. Manaphy and May soon developed a very close bond even to the point that May treated it as her own child and Manaphy began learning words like "love" and "you", but their bond was affecting Manaphy's goal to find the Sea Temple, so she tried to stay away from Manaphy but they eventually came back to one another and shared a tearful hug.
But sadly, it still had to return to the Sea Temple. So after a tearful goodbye, Manaphy left but not before Manaphy shared one more hug with May and said "Love you Mama, Love you May".

Trivia
- The fact that Manaphy thought that May was its mother echoes a similar event that happened with the first Pokémon hatched from an egg in the anime: Togepi stayed with Misty even though Ash won the competition between those who wanted it because Togepi had seen Misty first.
