Madeleine

Madeleine (Japanese: みやび Miyabi) is the character of the day in Enlighten Up!.

She is a nun who lives in a temple in Johto between Mahogany Town and Blackthorn City. She is the follower of a religion similar to Buddhism in which the founder meditated along with Slowpoke until he cleared his head of all worldly thoughts and found enlightenment.

Apparently, she meditated along with Gary, spurring on Ash to attempt the temple training as well, although he wasn't successful.

Madeleine's Slowpoke

Madeleine's Slowbro
Slowpoke → Slowbro
Slowbro first appeared as a Slowpoke when Ash and his friends were fighting with Team Rocket at Lake Slowpoke. As soon as it went up to them, they stopped fighting.

Slowpoke has been known for catching many giant Pokémon while it was fishing. The last one Slowpoke caught was a Shellder resulting it to evolve into a Slowbro. This was considered good timing as the golden Slowpoke statue that was stolen by Team Rocket was about to run everyone over. Slowbro was able to stop the statue in its tracks and returned it to its rightful spot.

Slowbro's only known move is Confusion.

Trivia

  • Madeleine is one of the few characters whose Japanese name isn't spelt in katakana. Instead it is spelt in hiragana.
  • Her name may be a reference to Madeline, a series of children's books about girls in a boarding school watched over by a kindly nun.
