It evolves from Zigzagoon starting at level 20.

Contents

Biology

Physiology

Linoone are little weasel/badger-like creatures. Their long bodies are like a weasel's, and their sharp elongated claws are like a badger's. They also have small sharp teeth that are efficiently used with their claws in hunting. There is an arrow on it head as well, referencing its straight movement.

Gender differences

None.

Special abilities

Since Linoone have a keen sense of smell, they are able to locate and Pickup items while its trainer walks around.

When the Generation IV games were introduced, Linoone was given another ability. Due to the fact that it loves berries more than almost anything else, it is a complete glutton when it comes to them.

Behavior

Linoone are incredibly fast, but they aren't the best at cornering, so they typically run in a straight line. Linoone have an attraction to anything round, and will grab any orb-shaped object they see if given the chance. They often carry a snatched object in their expandable cheek pouches and deposit it in any of a number of secret stashes they keep on their territory.

Habitat

Linoone tend to live in forests and grasslands, similar to actual racoons.

Trivia

  • Linoone's sprite has changed very little between Generation III and IV.
  • Linoone and Ambipom are the only evolved Pokémon that have Pickup.

Origin

Linoone may be based on a badger or a ferret.

Name origin

Linoone's name may be a combination of line, referring to its sleek appearance, and raccoon. It could also be referring to its ability to only run in straight lines. Its Japanese name may be a combination of mass, referring to its growth since evolving, and 熊/グマ guma, and まっすぐ massugu, meaning straight, as in a line.
