Effect
In battle
Lightningrod forces all single-target Electric-type attacks in a double battle to strike the Pokémon with this ability. In a single battle, it will only cause the Pokémon with this ability to always be hit by Electric-type moves, no matter their accuracy. Note that Lightningrod cannot redirect Discharge, as it targets all Pokémon.
In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon and the sequel, a Pokémon with Lightningrod draws in all Electric-type attacks, and the damage/effect is completely neutralized.
Outside of battle
Lightningrod has no effect outside of battle.
Pokémon with Lightningrod
Single ability
No Pokémon have Lightningrod as their only ability.

In the anime
Rhydon. Rhydon redirects a Thunderbolt attack to its horn.
- Used by a Rhydon in Tag! We're it...!. Ash told Pikachu to use Thunderbolt on a Magmar, but the attack was directed straight to Rhydon's horn instead.
In other languages
- Spanish: Pararrayos
Trivia
- In Riddle me This, Pikachu is able to defeat Blaine's Rhydon by aiming its electric attack at the Rhydon's horn, with it being stated that the horn acts as a lightning rod, apparently allowing Pikachu to overcome Rhydon's normal immunity to Electric attacks, ironically working almost the exact opposite way that the later Lightningrod ability would.
- Electrike and its Evolution Manectric are the only Pokémon with the Lightningrod ability that aren't immune to Electric type moves.
