Leafeon (Japanese: リーフィア Leafia) is a Grass-type Pokémon.

It evolves from Eevee when it is leveled up in Eterna Forest.

Contents

Biology

Physiology

Leafeon is a fox-like creature with plant, dog, and cat characteristics. Its body is tan colored. It has one shade of dark brown that is carried out on the tip of its paws, as its eye color, and in the center of the ear. It has sprouts growing all over it, making it look more like a plant. It has a longer sprout of its forehead. Leafeon has a leaf-like tail.

Gender differences

None.

Special abilities

Leafeon can use any attack that Eevee knows with the addition of Grass-type attacks. Its leaves are apparently quite sharp since it can learn Leaf Blade, X-Scissor and other slicing attacks. As a fully-evolved Pokémon, Leafeon can learn Hyper Beam, and Giga Impact. It can also clean the air around it.

Behavior

It is pacifistic, preferring to obtain food with photosynthesis than competing with other Pokémon and foraging.

Habitat

As an Eevee, it chooses to live anywhere it wants. From there, it can evolve to its surroundings. In this case, Eevee has lived in a forest and evolved into Leafeon.

Diet

Main article: Pokémon food

It gets its food from photosynthesis; if there is no sunlight, it will eat fresh leaves.

In the anime

Leafeon with its evolutionary relatives in the anime

A statue of Leafeon could be seen in The Rise of Darkrai.

Leafeon makes a small cameo in the movie Giratina and the Sky Warrior. It was seen with an Eevee and the other six Eeveelutions. This cameo means that all of Eevee's known evolutions have appeared, up to this point (although Leafeon is currently the only Eeveelution yet to make a non-cameo appearance in the series).

It is set to appear in DP155.

In the manga

Mitsumi owns a Leafeon in Pokémon DP Adventure!.

In the TCG

Main article: Leafeon (TCG)

Other appearances

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Leafeon appears as a trophy alongside its counterpart, Glaceon.

Trophy Information

A Fresh Snow Pokémon and a Verdant Pokémon. They are both evolutions of Eevee. Eevee can evolve into seven different Pokémon depending on what it has in its possession and where it is when it evolves. Glaceon is an Ice-type and can freeze all the fur on its body into protective quills. Leafeon is a Grass-type, and the air around it is always fresh and clean.

Trivia

  • Leafeon is tied with Umbreon and Vaporeon for the tallest Eevee evolution.
  • As of A Full Course Tag Battle!, Leafeon remains the only Eeveelution not yet actually seen in the anime. It did make a movie cameo, however.
  • So far, Leafeon is one of two pure Grass-types (Shaymin is the other) to be based off of a mammalian creature.
  • According to the Diamond and Pearl Pokédex, Leafeon and Glaceon have identical footprints.
  • As of Platinum, Leafeon is the only Grass-type Pokémon to learn Swords Dance by leveling up.
  • Leafeon has the highest Defense of all Grass-type Pokémon.
  • Leafeon's sprites became brighter in Platinum, most evident in its shiny sprite.

Origin

Like most Eeveelutions, it has traits of foxes, dogs, and cats. It also has traits of plants.

Name origin

Its name is derived from leaf. It also contains the -eon suffix, like all Eeveelutions.

In other languages

  • German: Folipurba - From folium (Latin for "leaf"). Ends with -a like every Eeveelution in German.
  • French: Phyllali - From chlorphylle (chlorophyll). Ends with -li like every Eeveelution in French.
  • Korean: 리피아 Leafia
  • Chinese: 葉精靈
