It evolves from Monferno starting at level 36. It is the final form of Chimchar.

Physiology
Its body is a brownish-red color and a large flame burns on its head. The tail flame it had as a Monferno has disappeared. Infernape wears a gold chest ring in place of a chest plate. It also has gold shoulder pads, knee pads, and wrist bands. The blue and red markings it had on its forehead as a Monferno have now changed to a deep blood-red color. Its hands, feet, and inner ears are blue. It uses its hands and feet to pull off special combat moves. It is most competitive when it comes to speed.
Gender differences
None.
Special abilities

Behavior
Being powerful fighters, Infernape test their fighting abilities against each other. An Infernape's fighting spirit is determined by the size of the flame on its head.

Trivia
- Infernape is the only final form Sinnoh starter Pokémon not to have a unique type combination.
- It is also the only final form of a Sinnoh starter not to be immune to Sandstorm.
- Infernape has the second-highest Speed of the starters (Sceptile ranks first).
- Although its Pokédex entry says that "this Pokémon is beat by none in terms of quickness" it has only the 34th highest base speed stat.
- Infernape shares the same species name as Charmeleon and Charizard, Flareon, and Moltres. They are all known as Flame Pokémon.
- Infernape is the first fully evolved form of a starter Pokémon to be used by a member of any Elite Four, not counting the Champion.
- Infernape is the fastest Fire-type and the fastest Fighting-type Pokémon, with a base speed of 108.
- As of Barry's Busting Out All Over!, Infernape is the only Sinnoh starter Pokémon evolution not to have debuted in the main anime yet.
- It is the shortest fully evolved main series starter Pokémon to date, being only three feet and eleven inches tall.
- Infernape is the only Pokémon with a Defense Base Stat of 71, a Special Attack Base Stat of 104 and a Speed Base Stat of 108 so far.
- Infernape is the only final form Sinnoh Starter Pokémon not to have an immunity, as Empoleon is immune to Poison type attacks and Torterra is immune to Electric attacks.
- Infernape and Blaziken are the only fully evolved dual-typed starter Pokémon to share the same typing.
Origin
Infernape is based on a monkey. It is also possible that he is based on Sun Wukong, the Chinese mythical "Monkey King". The gold elements in his design seem to indicate this, and his name can also be linked to Japanese interpretations of the character (e.g. Son Goku). Infernape is most likely based off the martial art Muay Thai which uses all the limbs. It also seems to reference the Monkey Kung Fu, another type of martial arts.
Name origin
Goukazaru is a combination of 業火 gōka, hellfire or inferno, and 猿 saru, ape. Infernape is a combination of inferno and ape.
