Release information

This card was released as one of the Wizards Black Star Promos, originating as one of the Japanese P Promotional cards. In Japan, it was available as an insert with the December 2001 issue of CoroCoro comic. The English version was first available at Pokémon Center New York in late 2002. This version has a "Pokémon Center NY" stamp underneath the illustration. Another version lacking the stamp was available as an insert with the November 2002 issue of Nintendo Power magazine.

Ho-Oh is written as Ho-oh on the card. This was prior to Generation III confirming Ho-Oh as the correct way to capitalize the Pokémon's name.

This card's e-Reader Pokédex entry comes from Pokémon Crystal.
