Hajime is the male playable character in Pokémon Ranger Batonnage. His female counterpart is Hitomi.
In the anime
Hajime made his appearance in DP071 and DP072 as a Top Rank Ranger. Ash and friends helped him on his mission of protecting a hurt Riolu. He is voiced by 坂口大助 Daisuke Sakaguchi in Japanese.

In the manga
Hajime appears in the comic based on Pokémon Ranger Batonnage that is posted on the Pokémon Japanese Website. Hajime is a Top Rank Ranger and his partner Pokémon is a Pachirisu. Hajime collects all volumes of The Almia Times, pieces of Capture Stylers, and Capture Discs.
Trivia
- Hajime means "beginning," probably referring to his status as a beginner in the game; however, he is a Top Ranger in the anime and in the manga.
- In the anime, Hajime has been shown with several final forms of Ash's own Pokémon, a Floatzel, a Staraptor, and three Blastoise, final forms of Buizel, Staravia, and Squirtle. He also used a Donphan, which Ash also has.
- Hajime's birthdate, according to the manga version of Pokémon Ranger Batonnage, is May 11.
- Hajime's blood type is B.
- Hajime is the first male player character to appear in the anime (not including Pokémon Chronicles) if Ash is not counted as Red.
- Hajime is also the first male player character to meet Ash.
