#free_pokemon, known as #fp for short, is an IRC channel that can be found on several networks (with the main channel being on the DejaToons network).
History
#free_pokemon was started by members of the #pokemonjohto channel on DALnet. It was the third channel started by them as the fist two were taken over by another member. Before the summer of 2002, #fp was moved to the Aniverse server, and later on a heated argument between the founder and one of the operators, a general loss of interest in Pokémon, and problems with Aniverse (namely the fact that it can only host anime) led to the decline of #fp. The issues with Aniverse led the members to move #fp to Atomic Chat, which lasted for awhile. Issues arose again and the channel was moved to Dejatoons, which is it's current server.
Today #fp still exists and is largely supported by its members.
