Forretress (Japanese: フォレトス Foretos) is a Bug/Steel-type Pokémon.

Contents

Biology

Forretress normally live rooted to a tree and they eat anything foolish enough to come near them. They eat by opening their entire shell and swallowing their prey whole. This is done so fast that no one has ever seen the inside of a Forretress. In cases where they are a trainers Pokémon, Forretress are not rooted and can move about. They can spin and close the shell around them and in some case retract their spikes/horns to protect themselves. They move when not rooted to a tree by bouncing around or spinning.

Physiology

Forretress are quite big and have a shell covering their body from physical attacks. They have 4 red spikes or horns coming out of the side of their body. Both the top and the bottom of their shell is shaped with small grooves and their eyes sit at the front of their body between two of the red horns/spikes. Their body is very hard and can stand most physical attacks.

Gender differences

None.

Special abilities

Forretress have a large rock hard shell covering their entire body. They can shoot spikes from their mouth to hurt or drive away other Pokémon.

Behavior

Forretress are normally peaceful, sitting by themselves, rooted to a tree waiting for food. However, if prey comes close enough, they will viciously attack without warning.

Habitat

Forretress spend most of their time hanging from trees in large forests.

Diet

Forretress eat any Pokémon small enough to fit inside their mouth. Main article: Pokémon food

Brock's Forretress
Brock's Forretress

Brock's Pineco evolved into Forretress in Entei at Your Own Risk in order to save a bunch of Pokémon at a hot spring from Team Rocket. Brock's Forrestress was the only Steel-type Pokémon owned by a main character from its evolution until Battle Frontier, when Brock's Onix evolved into Steelix. When Brock went to Hoenn, the only Pokémon he brought with him was his Forretress.

In the manga

In the Pokémon Special manga

Forretress first appeared in Volume 9, where Red had to fight two to pass his aptitude test to be Viridian City's Gym Leader.

Another Forretress was seen in Volume 11, under the ownership of Janine. She used its Spikes attack to lay traps for unsuspecting victims.
