Flavor is a group of five attributes that all Berries, Pokéblocks, Poffins, and Apricorns have.
In Generation III and IV, there are five flavors: Spicy, Dry, Sweet, Bitter, and Sour. each flavor represents a specific Contest condition and Pokéathlon performance stat, and is liked and disliked by different Pokémon depending on their Natures. The flavor is also consistently liked or disliked depending on which stat is raised or lowered; for example, all Pokémon who like spicy flavors will have a Nature that raises their Attack, while those that dislike spicy flavors will all have a Nature that lowers their Attack. Every Pokémon will like and dislike a certain flavor unless their Nature is Hardy, Docile, Serious, Bashful, or Quirky, in which case they will have no preference. However, bitter herbal medicine, as well as sweet Honey and the move Sweet Scent, ignore flavor preferences.
In Generation V, Berries instead have Scoop and Stickiness attributes for the Dream World mini-game Ice Cream Scoop.
In Generation VI, the original five flavors have been replaced by flavors based on the Berry's color. Pokémon X and Y have six flavors: red, blue, purple, green, yellow, and pink. Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire have five flavors: red, yellow, blue, green, and pink. In Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, each of these again correspond to a Contest condition.
