Effect

Generation I

Flamethrower does damage and has a 9.8% chance of burning the opponent.

Flamethrower can't burn an opponent that has a Substitute or already has a major status ailment.

Generation II and on

Same as Generation I, but with a 10% chance of burn instead.

Houndoom. A yellow-red-orange flame spirals out from its mouth.

Solrock. The fire is created in the middle of its top rock. It creates orange circles around the flame.

• Used by a wild Solrock in Take the Lombre Home! in a dream of Jessie, James and Meowth, however the dub version says it was Ember.

Cyndaquil. A red-orange flame spirals out of its mouth.
