It evolves into Dragonair starting at level 30, who evolves into Dragonite starting at level 55.

Dratini are serpentine Pokémon that inhabit lakes and rivers. They possess fins on the sides of their heads as well as a large, round silver nose on their face. They are constantly growing, and can become quite long. As they grow, they shed their delicate deep blue skin. Dratini also seem to have a much more stocky body than their evolved form.
Gender differences
None.
Special abilities
Behavior
Dratini are timid, elusive, and extremely shy Pokémon, causing them to be rarely seen, making people to believe it is a myth among certain communities in Kanto.
Habitat
Dratini are said to be nonexistent or one-of-a-kind Pokémon, as they are so rare. However, they are found in several places, including the Kanto Safari Zone, Dragon's Den, and Mt. Coronet.

Trivia
- Dratini's prototype name was "Dragoon," meaning a European military unit that is transported by horseback but fights on foot, but was probably used as a play on the word "dragon," or as a combination of "dragon" and "lagoon."
- Dratini's Red, Blue, and Green sprites showed stripes on its underbelly like a snake. These stripes were removed in Yellow.
- Dratini is the first Dragon-type Pokémon by National Pokédex order. It is also the last Pokémon to have a Generation I type that is not shared with a Pokémon of a lower number.
- Dratini's evolutionary family is the only Dragon-type family in Generation I.
- Dratini and its evolutions share the same species name with Horsea and its evolutions, and Salamence. They are all known as Dragon Pokémon.
- Along with Larvitar, Remoraid, and Trapinch, Dratini is one of the very few basic-stage Pokémon to learn Hyper Beam via level-up.
Origin
It appears to be based upon sea serpents or lóng, traditional Chinese dragons who bring good luck. Its constant growth is similar to that of Jörmungandr, a serpent in Norse mythology.
Name origin
Dratini's name appears to be a combination of dragon and corruption of teeny, meaning small. Despite this, it is fairly large for a Pokémon, being nearly six feet (1.8 meters) in length. Its Japanese name, a combination of miniature and 竜 ryū, dragon, has a similar meaning.
In other languages
- German: Dratini
- French: Minidraco - Comes from miniature and draco, (Latin for "dragon").
- Korean: 미뇽 Minyong
