Trivia
- This episode begins the four-part Summer School arc.
- Grimer showed a personality similar to Ash's Muk.
- Brock is the only one who didn't have much difficulty raising his Pokémon, likely due to the fact that he is a Pokémon Breeder.
- The Raichu featured in this episode (raised by Ash) demonstrated a vastly different personality from other Raichu in the show, who are normally aggressive and strong. This Raichu was horribly shy and doubted itself. It even uses Dig to hide itself. However, Kay did own a Raichu with a similar personality but only because she made it feel that way by not trusting it.
- One of Brittany's songs heard in Same Old Song and Dance is used as background music.
- In Three Jynx and a Baby, Jessie wanted to capture a Smoochum, while she gets to train one in this episode.
Errors
- In one scene when James was disguised, the arch behind him was overlapping his hip.
