Cherrim (Japanese: チェリム Cherrim) is a Grass-type Pokémon.

It evolves from Cherubi starting at level 25.

Cherrim changes appearance in sunny weather.

Contents

Biology

Physiology

Cherrim has two different forms, both of which are dependent on the weather (a trait that is also found in Castform). During normal weather conditions, it appears as two crossing purple petals with a short purple stem, a green leafy sepal covering, and two deep pink feet; its eyes appear to be near its legs in this form. When there is strong sunlight, it appears to have a skirt and hair made of pink cherry-blossom petals. Additionally, two berry-like orbs, resembling cherry-shaped hair ornaments, adorn its head.

Gender differences

None.

Special abilities

Behavior

Cherrim is said to release all of its pent up anger when it opens. Because of this, it is continuously happy until it closes again.

Trivia

  • Cherrim is one of the only two Pokémon to change its form depending on the weather, the other being Castform.
  • Cherrim's Sunshine form has two sprites for the purpose of animation, like all other Pokémon; however, it cannot be released from a Poké Ball directly into battle. Therefore, the animation is never seen (but technically could be if a Cherrim were hacked to be caught from the wild or a wild Ditto were transformed into a Cherrim).
  • Along with Castform, it is the only fully-evolved Pokémon that can change forms freely that is not banned from tournaments.

Origin

It appears that Cherrim is based on cherry blossoms.

Name origin

Cherrim's named is based off the English words cherry and cherubim or blossom. Its name may also come from the Irish word tirim, meaning dry weather.

In other languages

  • German: Kinoso - From Kirsche (cherry), Knospe (bud) and sol (lat. sun or sunshine)
  • French: Ceriflor - From cerise (cherry) and flora.
  • Korean: 체리꼬 Cherikkou - From 체리 (cherry) and 꽃 kkout (flower).
  • Chinese: 櫻花兒
