Release information
This card was reprinted in the Base Set 2 and Legendary Collection reprint sets, which were only released outside of Japan.
Edition "d" Butterfree
In the First Edition (English) release of the Jungle set, limited numbers of the Butterfree card were printed Edition "d" instead of Edition "1." The change of edition is the only difference in the card as a whole. The error was corrected for later prints of the First Edition set, but the "Edition d Butterfree" remains as one of the most scarce common cards to date.
Trivia
Origin
Whirlwind and Mega Drain are both moves in the Pokémon games that Butterfree can learn. The card's flavor text comes from Pokémon Red and Blue Versions, though it is slightly reworded.
