This card was also released as a promotional card with different artwork, also by Ken Sugimori. In Japan, it came with the March 1998 issue of CoroCoro comic. This variant card was never released in English.

Origin
- In the games, Brock owns an Onix when he is fought for the Boulder Badge. In the anime, Brock had an Onix, which has since become a Steelix.
