Autotomize (Japanese: ボディパージ Body Purge) is a non-damaging Steel-type move introduced in Generation V.
Autotomize raises the user's Speed stat by two stages and decreases the user's weight by 220 lbs. (100 kg), but cannot make the Pokémon's weight lower than 0.2 lbs. (0.1 kg).
This weight loss also affects the power of some moves that depend on the user's or target's weight. If the user uses Heat Crash or Heavy Slam, these moves will deal less damage, but if Heat Crash or Heavy Slam are used against the user, they will deal more damage. If Low Kick or Grass Knot are used against the user, they will deal less damage.
Autotomize's weight reduction is not transferred if the Pokémon uses Baton Pass.
Autotomize is a part of Contest Spectaculars combination and using it will cause Baton Pass and Electro Ball to give extra three appeal points if used in the next turn.
If powered up by a Steelium Z into Z-Autotomize, all of the user's lowered stats are reset.
| The user sheds part of its body to make itself lighter and sharply raise its Speed stat.
In other generations
- Autotomize refers to autotomy, the ability of certain animals to deliberately shed parts of their own body, usually to escape from a predator. It is common amongst reptiles and salamanders, as well as various invertebrates.
- Autotomize is the only Steel-type move whose English name consists of a single word.
