Archeops (Japanese: アーケオス Archeos) is a dual-type Rock/Flying Fossil Pokémon.
It evolves from Archen starting at level 37, after it is revived from a Plume Fossil.
Biology
Physiology
Archeops is a large, flying creature that bears similarities to both birds and reptiles. Its featherless, scaly head is colored green on top and red on the bottom. Its body is covered with frayed-looking, yellowish feathers. It has blue feathers designed for flight on its arms and legs enabling all four of its limbs to act as wings, along with a ring of smaller green feathers on the ankles. All of these "wings" bear sharp claws. Similar to its head and neck, its tail is completely red and featherless except for a fan of blue feathers at the end, and as with the Archaeopterygiformes, it has fully-movable vertebrae in its tail instead of a pygostyle. Its mouth is filled with sharp teeth. Its eyes are white with black pupils and no irises.
Gender differences
None.
Special abilities
Unlike its flightless pre-evolution, Archeops is capable of flying, but is more adept at running. It can outrun even an automobile. It has the intelligence to work with its partners in order to catch prey.
Behavior
Archeops work with their partners in order to catch prey. They catch prey while running around at speeds faster than even an automobile. They take flight after making a running start on land.
Habitat
Archeops are believed to be extinct in the wild, so they have no habitat in current times.
Diet
- Main article: Pokémon food
Archeops are omnivorous. In addition to the Pokédex stating that they were hunters, they have been seen eating fruit in the anime.

Trivia
- Archeops is the only Pokémon that has a base stat total of 567.
- This makes Archeops the only evolved Fossil Pokémon whose base stat total is not 495.
- Archeops's base stat total matches its National Pokédex number. It is the only Pokémon to do this.
- This number is also part of the Dewey Decimal number 567.9; the number for feathered dinosaurs.
- Archeops has the highest Attack base stat of all non-legendary Flying-type Pokémon.
Origin
Archeops appears to draw inspiration from the Microraptor, a small carnivorous dinosaur known for having wings both on its arms and legs, as well as the Archaeopteryx, believed by scientists to be the earliest of all birds, also alluded by its species as a "First Bird" Pokémon. It also bears allusions to the Feathered Serpents of ancient Mesoamerican mythologies.
Name origin
Archeops and Archeos are derived from Archaeopteryx and may be a combination of Archaeopteryx and Cheops (an ancient Egyptian pharaoh).
