| Danger Premonition
Anticipation (Japanese: きけんよち Danger Premonition) is an Ability introduced in Generation IV. Seven Pokémon can have this Ability.
Anticipation causes the Pokémon to "shudder" upon entering battle against opponents with super-effective attacks, one-hit knockout moves, or the moves Self-Destruct or Explosion.
It will not notify the Pokémon in the case of a super-effective Hidden Power, Judgment, Weather Ball, or Natural Gift, as they are initially Normal-type. Counter, Metal Burst, and Mirror Coat are also not detected.
The moves Selfdestruct and Explosion no longer trigger Anticipation. Counter, Metal Burst and Mirror Coat are counted as attacking moves of their types while Bide, Hidden Power, Judgment, Natural Gift, Techno Blast and Weather Ball are considered to be Normal-type moves.
Additionally, the Ability will now immediately activate every time it's acquired, such as via Skill Swap.
Outside of battle
Anticipation has no effect outside of battle.
