  • Coincidentally or not, the episode exactly 100 beforehand used the same pun in its English title: Turning Over a New Bayleef. The title is derived from the phrase "turning over a new leaf."

Errors

• While Ash was rescuing Pikachu, James threw Cacnea's Poké Ball downwards out of the balloon when he sent it out, but somehow Cacnea appeared beside him after using Pin Missile.
