Trivia
- Zigzagoon is one of the two Pokémon left out of the Hoenn Pokérap, the other being Relicanth.
- In each region, there is a two-stage Template:Type2 Pokémon encountered early in the region. Zigzagoon is the Hoenn variation on this theme that also includes Rattata, Sentret, and Bidoof.
- Though the English version says it is a Tiny Raccoon Pokémon, the original Japanese version calls it a type of tanuki, often known in English by the name "raccoon dog". It is a type of wild dog, and not closely related to raccoons.
Origin
According to it's Japanese species name, it is based on the raccoon dog, a species of Asian canine that looks somewhat similar to raccoons or badgers. Its Japanese species name, however, says it is a mamedanuki, a demon raccoon dog from Japanese folklore.
Name origin
Zigzagoon's name appears to be a combination of zigzag, referring to its fur pattern, and raccoon. Its Japanese name is a combination of zigzag and 洗い熊 araiguma, a raccoon, though the guma suffix is often used for mammals that resemble bears.
In other languages
- German: Zigzachs
- French: Zigzaton
- Korean: 지그재구리 Zigzaguri - A combination of zigzag and neoguri (raccoon).
