Trivia

  • Yanmega, along with its pre-evolution Yanma, are the only Pokémon beginning with the letter Y.
  • Yanmega has the highest base Special Attack stat of any bug Pokémon.
  • Yanmega is the largest bug Pokémon.

Origin

It is, as its name suggested, based on Meganeura monyi species of dragonflies.

Name origin

Yanmega's name is a combination of 蜻蜓 yanma, large dragonfly in Japanese, and Meganeura, a species of gigantic prehistoric dragonfly. Its Japanese name means the same thing, albeit in reverse.
