Yanmega (Japanese: メガヤンマ Megayanma) is a dual-type Bug/Flying Pokémon.

It evolves from Yanma when leveled up while knowing AncientPower.

Biology

Physiology

Yanmega is a large, dark green dragonfly. Each of Yanmega's segments have a red spot on them, while the last segment has a black thorn on it. It has two black triangular plates on the back of its thorax and another plate on its head, and it has red and white wings. Its eyes are red with black lines that make a "Y" shape in each one.

Gender differences

None.

Special abilities

Yanmega can create shock waves by beating their wings. These shock waves are so powerful that they may inflict critical injuries on the foe and even kill an adult human. Their jaw power is immense, and they are adept at biting apart foes while flying by at high speed.

Behavior

Habitat

Yanmega are hard to come across, but they can be found in forests.

Trivia

Origin

It is, as its name suggests, based on the Meganeura monyi, a particularly large, prehistoric species of dragonflies.

Name origin

Yanmega's name is a combination of 蜻蜓 yanma, large dragonfly in Japanese, and Meganeura, a species of gigantic prehistoric dragonfly. Its Japanese name means the same thing, albeit in reverse. However, it could just simply be a combination of mega, meaning large, and yanma.
