Bonnie for the Defense! (Japanese: 出動ラプラス防衛隊!ユリーカがんばる!! Dispatch the Laplace Protection Team! Do Your Best, Eureka!!) is the 49th episode of the XY series, and the 848th episode of the Pokémon anime. It first aired in Japan on October 30, 2014 and in the United States on December 20, 2014.
Blurb
During a little bit of free time on the way to Coumarine City, Bonnie decides to explore a forest, where she runs into a trio of kids watching over an injured Lapras. She offers to find some help, but the kids don’t seem too keen on letting adults take a look at the hurting Pokémon. Can Bonnie convince them to let Nurse Joy make a house call to their hideout?

Trivia
- The English dub of this episode first aired in Australia on December 15th, 2014.
- Bonnie reads the title card.
- Professor Oak's Pokémon Holo Caster: Flabébé*
- Instead of Professor Oak's Pokémon Holo Caster or Mairin's Mega Evolution Journal, Steven appears to talk about Primal Kyogre.
- Serena narrates the preview of the next episode alone, while she and Ash read the title card and say the "Everyone, get Pokémon!" phrase together.
- In this episode, Meowth fills in for James in the Team Rocket's motto.
Errors
- When Clemont is releasing Chespin and Luxio to the action, the pupils in Luxio's eyes are colored black instead of yellow.
- When the Lapras friends use their Ice Beam attack on Team Rocket, the grip engine on the Magikarp submarine is missing.
Dub edits
- The title card segment focuses on, and is read by, Ash in the dub instead of Bonnie.
- Just like in past two episodes, the intro theme plays before the episode begins, and the cold open is moved between it and the title card.
- In the dub, the kids start crying because Ash comments that "Lapras is going downhill fast", then Clemont says that he would rather not think about it. In the original version, Ash explicitly says that if they leave Lapras there, they will "let it die", and Clemont adds that it may be a possibility in the worst case scenario.
