Wormadam (Japanese: ミノマダム Minomadam) is a Bug-type Pokémon.

She evolves from female Burmy starting at level 20. She is one of Burmy's final forms, the other being Mothim.

She has three different secondary types: Steel, Grass, and Ground, determined by the cloak that Burmy was in when she last battled. Unlike Burmy, her cloak is permanent.

Biology

Physiology

The coat of leaves/sand/building insulator has now fused with Wormadam's body on a sub-molecular level. Wormadam's eyes have changed from yellow to white. Wormadam's beak is longer and is tipped with either green, brown or pink. Its antenna is also longer, with the coil on a more elongated position. Wormadam has a pair of arms that are either made from leaves, chains of brown pebbles or pink ribbons.

Gender differences

Wormadam are the female of the species. For the male counterpart, see Mothim.

Special abilities

Wormadam's type is variable, depending on the kind of cloak it wears. Additionally, it is capable of learning a few Psychic-type moves. In the anime, it is shown to be able to move around by floating in the air.

Behavior

Wormadam appear to swing like a pendulum, with the ball at the top of its antenna always staying in the exact same spot, even when hit with an attack, as if it was glued to that space. This may be due to its slightly Psychic-type nature, learning many Psychic-type attacks naturally. However the antenna falls out of place when it faints. It is said that a Wormadam that evolves on a cold day will have a thicker cloak.

Trivia

  • Wormadam is unique in the fact that it can be three different types permanently yet shares a Pokédex entry and name.
  • Wormadam's Sandy Cloak is its only form that does not share a type combination with more than one Pokémon.
  • Wormadam was once the only non-legendary Pokémon with form differences that learns different moves depending on her form. This is no longer true, as the different forms of Rotom all learn at least one different move from the others.
  • Wormadam with a Sandy Cloak is the only form of Wormadam that does not have a 4× type-weakness.
    • Wormadam's Plant Cloak and Trash Cloak forms both share a 4× type-weakness to Fire-type attacks.
  • Wormadam with a Plant Cloak is the only form of Wormadam that does not have an immunity.
  • Despite being a Bug-type Pokémon, Wormadam could not learn any Bug-type attacks until Platinum.
  • In its Sandy Cloak, Wormadam is the only Bug-type Pokémon capable of learning Fissure.
  • Wormadam and Deoxys are the only Pokémon to have different EV yields depending on their form and are, as such, the only Pokémon with varying EV yields.
  • All of Wormadam's Pokédex entries mention evolution.
  • Wormadam Trash Cloak is the only one of Wormadam's forms not to have 105 in any stat.
    • Instead, its defenses are evened out to 95 Defense and Special Defense.
  • Wormadam and Mothim are the only Pokémon with a base stat total of 424.
  • Despite saying that it will have a thicker coat when it is cold, nothing happens to its Defense stats when the weather condition is Hail.

Origin

Wormadam is based on an adult female bagworm, which never develops wings.

Name origin

Wormadam is a combination of bagworm and madam (indicating its exclusively female nature).

Minomadam is a combination of 蓑虫 minomushi (bagworm) and madam.
