Entering and browsing the Wi-Fi Square.

The Wi-Fi Square is an enhancement of the Wi-Fi Club in Pokémon Platinum. It supports up to 20 people at a time and focuses exclusively on mini-games.

The currently revealed mini-games are Rapid Wobbuffet, where you hit a Wobbuffet, and Merry Mime Jr., where you balance Mime Jr. on a ball. A Poffin-making machine in the shape of Swalot will also be included.

Players will only be able to stay in the Wi-Fi area for a set amount of time. At the end of the time limit, fireworks will go off and the player will leave the area on a boat shaped like a Pokémon.

Touch Toys will be available, which appear and are controlled on the touch screen. They have various effects within the Wi-Fi room and can be upgraded based on the scores of the mini-games.

Swalot machine

A new way to make poffins.

The machine utilizes more of the game's 3D capabilities; a giant Swalot spins around while berries are thrown into its mouth.

This is much different than the poffin mixing on Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. Players toss berries into the Swalot machine's mouth using the touch screen. It swallows the berries and spits them out later, creating a brand-new poffin. There is apparently a point scoring system in the game. Up to four people can play.

It is much like the Berry Blender in the Generation III games and the poffin mixer in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl.

Trivia

  • The 12 starter Pokémon appear as mascots in several places across the room.
  • Two of the mini-games feature Team Rocket's Pokémon: Wobbuffet and Mime Jr.
  • Most of the featured Pokémon are unavailable in Sinnoh before obtaining the National Pokédex.
  • The Swalot's barbels are much smaller than in the Sugimori artwork. In the machine, its barbels are only up to head level. In the official artwork, they are up to hand level.
