Vital Spirit (Japanese: やるき Willingness) is an ability introduced in Generation III. Five Pokémon have this ability, all of them in the Ground egg group.

Effect

In battle

Vital Spirit prevents Sleep. If a Pokémon with Vital Spirit uses Rest, it will automatically fail.

Outside of battle

From Pokémon Emerald onwards, if the Pokémon with Vital Spirit is leading the party, then Vital Spirit increases the chance of battling a higher-leveled wild Pokémon by 50%.
