The Venusaur, Charizard and Blastoise Half Decks complement the Flight of Legends Expansion of the Pokémon Trading Card Game and were released in Japan only. The Half Decks predominantly focus on the Generation I starters and their evolutions and together contain the following cards: -
- The majority of these cards could not be found in the main Expansion. Those that were not were added to the main set it was translated into English.
- Unlike previous Half Decks, which have their own numbering system and symbol, these decks all have a collective numbering system, hence they are listed together rather than separately. The set symbol for these Half Decks was used in the English main set.
- The cards contained in each deck were random (apart from the Pokémon depicted on the deck and its evolution stages), a trend used in Japan with Decks from the first Expansion in a new Generation. Generation III was the only Generation not to feature a Starter Deck in its first Expansion (ADV 1: Advanced Adventure), instead these Half Decks being the ones to feature the innovation.
Like others, the Venusaur, Charizard and Blastoise Half Decks also include a rulebook, damage counters, status counters and custom coin ((Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle respectively).
