Colosseum characters

I noticed how most of the characters from Pokémon Colosseum are lacking manga sections such as Miror B.. Do you think they should be added as Wes already has one? Patty Man 00:47, 1 September 2012 (UTC)

They should absolutely be added if information is available. Unfortunately the manga was never released as a volume, only in magazines, so it's really rare and I don't know much about it. --ZestyCactus 01:12, 1 September 2012 (UTC)

I don't count Pikachu Meets the Press because it's a newspaper comic strip, not really a manga. It doesn't really fit in anywhere XD. As well, I generally don't group stuff like All That Pikachu! and the animation comics in with manga, as they are more like artbooks/anime-related than manga. Having said that, I do have the TV Animation Comic and some of the Japanese film comics (I actually bought them months ago to write about them :V) as well as The Art of Pokémon the Movie 2000, I do promise i'll get to those eventually. :V so I'll get to scanning my own books soon as I'd prefer to do that then jack them off other websites. thanks for the links to those other Pokémon manga (the 4Koma and the Pokéthlon). umm for the archives thing, it may be because you're not autoconfirmed. i'm really not too clear on what the usergroup rules are for the Archives, you might want to check with a staff member who is more active there. Ultra rare Pokémon XD manga (5 page instructional promo)

There's a manga that there's barely any info about online, not even here. It's a five page instructional Pokémon XD manga by Emiko Yoshino that was made to promote Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness and ran in an x-Grader magazine.

Ummm....something about a space walkthrough manga....?

The Japanese name of the Pokémon XD game was Pokémon XD: Whirlwind of Darkness, Dark Lugia, so the accruacy of the name from SakuraMota's translation might not be 100%, but on the other hand no translation ever is. The title of the manga is exactly the same as on this Japanese Pokémon XD game cover.

Could you upload page one to Bulbagarden Archives and create an article for this manga? If you want to post something of the remaining four pages under fair use license (it's probably going to have to be snippetts), I can send send you the links (just not publicly, probably PM through Bulbagarden Forums, Serebii.Net Forums or The PokéCommunity Forums). Pocket Monsters anime adaptions

I wrote about these mangas in one of my previous post. I'm reposting this instead of editing the old one so that I'll know for sure that you'll notice it. Just just to clarify one thing. By the looks of it you thought these were Ani-mangas. I don't think they are. I base my judgement on: 1. the artwork of the covers and 2. Dogasu's Backpack have never listed Ani-mangas. If you need more info you should probably ask Dogasu.

I noticed that Bulbapedia doesn't have covers of the manga adaptions of movie 2-5, so I searched for them and I think I found them. Sources are included so that you can confirm if it's the right covers. I'm pretty confident that these are the right ones because of Shogakukan's website.

I found this very nice artwork from Emperor of the Crystal Tower. Looks like it originates from this uncropped version that Blackjack Gabbiani scanned.

I also found this artwork from Mewtwo Strikes Back!. I don't know who scanned it, but I don't think it was Blackjack Gabbiani.

Blackjack Gabbiani has at least the four first movie manga adaptions, so while you ask for her permission to use her scans, perhaps you could ask her to scan the covers of the third and fourth movie manga. Viz Media's licensing areas

According to the VIZ Media article the only areas in Europe where VIZ publishes manga is the UK and Ireland: "VIZ Media publishes Pokémon manga, anime, and other media in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and South Africa."

I live in Finland and all of VIZ's Pokémon manga is easily available in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany, France, Italy, Spain and probably the rest of Europe too. I don't think that the local book websites gets the books via some "extra hands" since they cost ~7,40€ each, which is about the average price in the other areas too.

Am I misunderstanding something here or should I change UK and Ireland to Europe? --PokeAwesome94 (talk) 19:28, 14 September 2012 (UTC)

Hmm. I'm not sure, as I got that information from VIZ Media's own website. "VIZ Media is a leader in the publishing and distribution of Japanese manga for English speaking audiences in North America, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and South Africa and is a global ex-Asia licensor of Japanese manga and animation." Based on that, it's likely that in Europe it's imported by the supplier or whatever as opposed to being distributed by VIZ Media directly? (don't know much about how this works) it could be something similar to how Chuang Yi's manga titles are distributed in Australia and New Zealand by Madman Entertainment, as opposed to directly by Chuang Yi. I really don't know what else it could be especially considering a lot of those European countries also publish the same manga series natively in their respective languages. If it wasn't for that I don't know Japanese I would have searched for the magazines at Yahoo! Japan Auctions and Google, but I don't know how to find them there.

"By the way, there are other Colosseum manga too. Less known than Snatcher though, and likely walkthroughs rather than actual adaptations.

'Pokemon Colosseum: Scenario Mode Walkthrough Comic' by Hidenori Kusaka, Tomotoshi Okamoto and Yoshino Emiko, was published in Grade 3 magazine(小学三年生) issues January and February 2004. 'Pokemon Colosseum: Fastest Walkthrough Comic' by Hidenori Kusaka, Tomotoshi Okamoto and Yoshino Emiko, was published in Grade 4 magazine(小学四年生) issues January and February 2004. Perhaps they're the same or similar though, considering the similar staffing and dates. 'Pokemon Colosseum 4-Koma Special' by Takahiro Yamashita was in the same Grade 4 January 2004 issue.

As for XD, the October 2005 issue of Grade 2 magazine(小学二年生) contained 'Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness: Dark Lugia Special Walkthrough Manga' also by Yoshino Emiko. Grade 4 magazine had 'Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness: Dark Lugia Special Comic' by Hidenori Kusaka and Nobuhiko Mitoku in September and October 2005 too. I've uploaded the The Power of One image... I haven't decided if I want the Mewtwo Strikes Back film cover because while it is bigger, it is pretty pixellated/grainy whereas the smaller one is sharper ever-so-slightly. The movie manga image from Toshihiro Ono seems to be from a fan site as opposed to a shopping site so I'm more hesistant to use it. where did you get the Mystery Dungeon image from? --ZestyCactus 21:56, 18 September 2012 (UTC)

On second thought keep the current Mewtwo Strikes Back! film cover. The bigger version is so pixellated that i can't stand looking at the twerps deformed faces.

I don't know if this changes anything but here's another version of the Mewtwo Strikes Back! manga cover. It's taken with a camera, has a bigger resolution, better colours, but it misses some of the artwork in the area between the two pages, especially Misty who has almost disappeared between the pages. It's from the same site as the cover image you have for the manga. It's posted on pkmncollectors.livejournal.com. Someone bought it from Japan and photographed it. But if you're going to upload the artwork I recommend the first image where one can actually see the whole artwork. But if I remember correctly Bulbapedia and Bulbagarden Archives have a "no content from other fansites" rule. The best way then is probably to ask Blackjack Gabbiani to scan it since she has it and the quality of her scans far exceeds the scan quality of the other two scans.

Where did I get the Mystery Dungeon image from you ask.

It was from a Russian scanlation project. I found the image at this site when I was searching for the best possible resolution of the cover about a year ago using Google image search's "More sizes" option. The cover is a beautiful untouched Japanese raw. (I don't know Russian so that's the only image I downloaded, keeping it legal). The site is now down, so the only way of getting this kind of quality right now is probably from me. The image was a scan of both the front and back cover. It was originally 1826 x 1349 pixels. Then I cropped it so that it was only the front cover. I then resized it using Paint.NET - with the "Maintain aspect ratio" option enabled - to 824 x 1280 pixels in order to not break the maximum size rule. All the editing was done in the image's original PNG format so the quality is preserved just as it was before the editing. Best possible quality available. I can send the cropped and resized image + the original untouched image to you + the remaining four pages of the Pokémon XD manga (in case you want to post snippets, character images and / or other artwork etc.) and the source of the Pokémon XD manga translation to your e-mail address.

The Electric Tale of Pikachu Special Signature Edition Red Version cover (very rare)

I found a very rare cover of The Electric Tale of Pikachu Special Signature Edition Red Version last summer on a comic book and / or auction site that I can't remember. Today I saw it on my hard drive and thought it'd be fitting to upload to Bulbapedia. This is the biggest and highest quality version I could find of it. I can't find the site which it came from so the site most likely delete the auctions after they've ended. I downloaded the picture as a jpg image and converted it to a png image using Paint.NET. I really don't know anything about it. All I can tell you is what I'm thinking. It is either The first volume or the third issue in my opinion, judging by the cover. The volumes have Viz Grapic Novel written on them, while the issues have Viz Comics written on them, this one however has Viz Mini-Graphic Novel written on it. Judging by this picture, this picture and this picture I think it's a red special edition of the first volume, it might possibly have fever chapters since Viz Mini-Graphic Novel is written on the cover instead of Viz Graphic Novel. I think it might be something that could have been sold on conventions and promotional events as an exclusive, but that's just me speculating. Maybe they had a signing at those locations too, or the mangas were already signed when bought. I have no idea who's signature it is. When the series where being sold, the original cast of the Pokémon anime used to sign the issues. So it might be one of the original Pokémon anime cast or it might be someone who was involved in the creation of the manga. I know that it isn't Veronica Taylor's, Eric Stuart's or Addie Blaustein's autographs, since they had clearly readable signatures.

Now that I took a second look at the Amazon page I noticed that it classed it as a paperback, so it is most likely the first volume of EToP. However, it might possibly have fever chapters since Viz Mini-Graphic Novel is written on the cover instead of Viz Graphic Novel. I've bought the book and it should arrive in two weeks or less. When It arrives I can tell you whatever you want to know (and if you want to get your own book I might be able to give you some advice with the international shipping issues as I did some research when Amazon wouldn't ship it to my country). Here's the auction page, in case you want to look at some pictures. It was previously on Amazon, I contacted the seller in order to enable international shipping, but due to Amazon being bugged the seller listed it on eBay so that she could enable shipping to my country. This picture is interesting as it says that it was included in a Pokémon Video Suitcase, which I guess means that it was a commercial sample in an episode / season box set.

I told the seller that I was working on a Bulbapedia article and asked what she knew about this book and the Pokémon Video Suitcase. She replied:

"As for what I know about this book...........nothing. I found and bought a box of robots, sci fi books & Star Trek books years ago at a garage sale and this was part of the lot. I had sold other Pokemon related things and figured someone would be interested so that is why it was listed on Amazon. It is not an autograph on the cover, just a mark that looks like it was a price mark. As for the video suitcase, I don’t know. This might have been included as part of a set but that’s just a guess.
