Link templates

Please utilize link templates when linking to other articles on Bulbapedia, especially related to moves, Pokémon species, abilities, etc. See the list of link templates on how to use the common ones. I had to fix two of your edits to trivia you added. An example would be {{a|Levitate}} instead of [[Levitate]]. Why not go through your contributions list and fix your edits? Thanks! --rockersk08 03:05, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

Ampersand

Hi Vuvuzela. Please use the word 'and' rather than an ampersand (&) in most cases. The only exceptions should be in titles such as "the Diamond & Pearl series". (Referring to this edit.) —darklordtrom 06:32, 8 December 2010 (UTC)

OK, will do that from now on. XVuvuzela2010X 07:06, 8 December 2010 (UTC)

Bonsly

What is the justification for creating a Generation III learnset for Bonsly if it didn't exist in Generation III? --rockersk08 17:21, 15 February 2011 (UTC)

Because Bonsly does exist in Gen III. XVuvuzela2010X 17:24, 15 February 2011 (UTC)
Okay, so it does. Perhaps what I get for not playing games outside the main. But it isn't catchable in that game. This would also mean that Muchlax would have to get a Generation III page. I'm sure the learnset pages correspond to their official generation debut, thus those pages are not needed, but a reference could be made. Either way, you should at least speak with a higher-up staff member to be safe. --rockersk08 17:30, 15 February 2011 (UTC)
Munchlax is different. Although they both have index numbers, Munchlax was never programmed to be used in battle, and has no box sprite, menu sprite, pc animation, or 3d battle model, and thus is completely impossible to use in battle, and if you try, the game freezes. Bonsly on the other hand, has all of the above, and is essentially just the 387th Pokemon. XVuvuzela2010X 17:36, 15 February 2011 (UTC)

Large scale editing

Where should I start. Reverse holos. That category is pointless, as EVERY card since Legendary Collection has been released as reverse holofoil. a category for 90% of like 6000 pages is not something that should be done. A note can easily be added onto the holographic page. Secondly, your trivias over different resistances and weaknesses. Vibrava, Lati@s, Flygon, Venomoth, and Beedrill: your trivias over resistance are easily explained by in-game weakness and resistance. The simpler of two viable explanations is always the right one. That's a world known fact about how things work. Large scale projects, especially category based need to be proposed to a Senior Admin or higher, as well as the project leader. Also, your JA rights are on a temporary basis, and they can and will be removed at any time if there are problems with your editing habits. Just thought I should warn you. MaverickNate 09:07, 7 April 2011 (UTC)

The only TCG Weakness/Resistance related edit I have made recently is the one to the Colorless (TCG) page, about the resistances the Dragon types have during the EX series. I forgot about the ones you mentioned, since they were made at the end of January, though I apologise as I should have remembered to revert them at the time.
As for the category for reverse holos, it was obviously intended for "proper" reverse holos (e.g Southern Islands), not the ones found in booster packs. I didn't think I would need to run it by an admin due to the limited number of those cards.
And as for adding the Category:Holographic cards, (like to Dark Slowbro and Metal Energy), I thought that would be fine too, seeing as almost every other card that is holographic is included in that category, though I presume reverting this was just a mistake. XVuvuzela2010X 14:56, 7 April 2011 (UTC)
Also in addition to Dark Slowbro and Metal Energy, there was also Mew, Meowth, Eevee, Captain Pikachu, Professor Oak's Visit, Roseanne's Research, Armor Fossil, Skull Fossil, Darkness Energy, Machamp, Smeargle, Championship Arena, Pokémon Illustrator, Hungry Snorlax, and Mew, Vileplume, Togepi, Ledyba, Marill, Slowking, Pichu. All of these are holographic or were later released as a holographic card (promotional), so I added the Holographic cards category, (lthe latter ones had it before they were replaced with the reverse holographic cards category) but by reverting all edits to these pages it was removed. Just thought it would be best to note incase it was a mistake since there were quite a few. XVuvuzela2010X 11:41, 8 April 2011 (UTC)

Switches request

I hope you don't mind me requesting something. ^^; You know how to do switches, right? I have no idea how to do them, and the Wormadam page needs one really badly. Do you think you could do that? Littlmiget123 21:16, 17 May 2011 (UTC)

Of course I don't mind. I can start on it tomorrow (I've been working for nearly 12 hours, so I'm knackered, and need my bed). Is there any particular time you want the switch to switch? (like every hour, day, etc.). I could probably do one for Burmy too. XVuvuzela2010X 20:47, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
Great! ^^ The time doesn't matter. How often do the other pages (Cherrim, Castform, etc) switch? Yeah, Burmy could be done as well, if you don't mind. ^^ Thanks so much! :D Littlmiget123 21:14, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
Burmy and Wormadam already switch... Every day to be exact.--MisterE13 22:15, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
The anime pictures also need to switch depending on the type that's showing. Littlmiget123 22:22, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
Wormadam's done but Burmy only has the one picture.--MisterE13 22:32, 18 May 2011 (UTC)
Only Plant Cloak Burmy appeared in the anime, so that explains that. XP Thank you very much MisterE. ^^ Littlmiget123 23:00, 18 May 2011 (UTC)

Never use userspace templates in the mainspace. They have to actually be approved and moved before they are used. MaverickNate 20:10, 4 June 2011 (UTC)

Whoops, I didnt relise. Any idea when they will be moved (I was going to re-edit once it was approved)? XVuvuzela2010X 20:14, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
First, you should make a test page as the talk page for one of them, showing all the different switch outcomes and subtemplates. Then ask an admin about it. We'll likely discuss it privately and leave some time for other people to comment on the test page. No template should be moved from the userspace to the templatespace until it has been thoroughly tested. Werdnae (talk) 20:28, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
Well, each one would only be used on the pages of their respective Pokemon and its relatives, like Nincada's evobox template. So they would always look pretty much the same. - unsigned comment from Vuvuzela2010 (talkcontribs)
You need to test each of your new templates, to double/triple check that it works as you think it does, and show us that it does. Even something as simple as changing the outcomes of a switch statement can cause it to stop working completely. It's not so much a matter of us knowing what it will look like, it's a matter of making sure that you haven't accidentally broken something. The discussions us admins will have (privately or otherwise) will be on the concept, as well as the design. Werdnae (talk) 06:32, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
There isnt any switch involved, but I'll try and test it anyway. Though they were tested earlier on the pages they were meant to be on, if you want to have a look (Nidoran♀, Nidorina, Nidoqueen, Nidoran♂, Nidorino, Nidoking, Volbeat, Illumise, Latias and Latios). Also, the talk page for Nidoran♀ has the template already. XVuvuzela2010X 10:36, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
Was that really so hard? I'll bring it up with the other admins. No promise on a quick decision. Werdnae (talk) 22:12, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
Right, so that's what you meant by making a talk page (embarrasing). XVuvuzela2010X 22:35, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
Roughly how long do you mean? I know these things take time, but obviously I don't want it dragging on for months on end. XVuvuzela2010X 23:15, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
Sorry about the delay. Staff I've talked to think that it has value, but it needs to be presented more clearly, and only for the ones that can actually produce eggs (i.e. No Lati@s). Werdnae (talk) 00:28, 20 June 2011 (UTC)
Ok, so can the Lati one just get deleted then? To be honest, I don't really know what I'm doing with the Nido one. I don't think there would be any point in showing the other gender's evolutions, for example Nidorino & Nidoking on Nidoqueen's page (since these are not shown on any other branched-evo page, for example Wormadam's), but I dont know what I need to edit in my template first. XVuvuzela2010X 02:26, 20 June 2011 (UTC)

Warnings

When a user does something this wrong, it's best to leave them a message. This user should at the very least be warned about the preview button, and also about the current trivia rule. -- MAGNEDETH 22:13, 10 June 2011 (UTC)

Yeah I wasn't really sure whether that would be major enough for a warning, since although laughable, it seemed to be in good faith. Plus I would have thought it would be generally reserved for Admins to warn another user. XVuvuzela2010X 22:21, 10 June 2011 (UTC)
Anyone can give a warning (though it is preferred more seasoned users do it than newbies), and the warning itself can vary in severity. Although a user in good faith, they still may do something wrong. So in turn, a polite warning would be best. Consider it more of a teaching than a warning. -- MAGNEDETH 20:20, 11 June 2011 (UTC)

Neo Premium Files

Unfortunately, the correct name of them is the other way around. We used "Neo 2 Premium File" before we started directing time and effort towards correcting all the Japanese release names. Nuva-kal had gone around to some of the cards and corrected them to "Neo Premium File 2", but it was not publicly known that this was going on. (They are the Neo Premium Files 1, 2, and 3 if you have an urge to fix them). Thanks for taking the effort to fix something you noticed was inconsistent; it just happened to be a confusing mess when you tried. MaverickNate 03:31, 14 June 2011 (UTC)

Sorry about that, I noticed that all the relevant Pokemon (TCG) pages all linked to the Neo 2 Premium File, so I just assumed that was the correct one. I'll go and fix them. Also, one thing I want to ask, some of the card pages link to a (currently non existing) Neo Premium File 2 category, yet not to the Neo Premium File category. What should I do about these? XVuvuzela2010X 03:45, 14 June 2011 (UTC)
The only categories used should be Category:Neo Premium File 1 cards, Category:Neo Premium File 2 cards, and Category:Neo Premium File 3 cards. The other one should be phased out and tagged for deletion. MaverickNate 03:55, 14 June 2011 (UTC)

Native

I'm pretty sure the word native here is used to describe the first region in which the Pokémon were introduced. MaverickNate 22:09, 6 July 2011 (UTC)

Fair enough, I've not actually seen this episode, it just looked a bit weird the way it was written. XVuvuzela2010X 22:24, 6 July 2011 (UTC)

About the edit you reverted...

The article for Pokémon Black and White says, and I quote: "While Volbeat and Illumise are only available in the wild in Black and White respectively, Illumise can breed with any male Pokémon in the Bug egg group, Human-Like egg group or Ditto to produce eggs that have an 50% chance of hatching into Volbeat. However, breeding Volbeat with Ditto will not produce Illumise eggs."

I added Volbeat in there because Illumise was in there.
~~LDEJRuff~~ 6:52, 8 July, 2011 (EDT)

Sorry if it seemed like I was snapping at you at the time, but there have been a lot of people adding Volbeat to that page. And it turns out that in Gen V Volbeat can now produce Illumise eggs, so Illumise has also been removed and the trivia point about Volbeat and Illumise has now been updated. XVuvuzela2010X 11:16, 8 July 2011 (UTC)

You beat me to it =D

I started deleting the aforementioned things because they were once fully evolved. Then I saw the special abilities of Togetic and Seadra in their respected articles, and had to log out before I could make the edits. And yes, Venonat and Remoraid are exceptions.

No problems in my side, you? Also, why not reword and state "Since it was once a fully evolved Pokemon, ---------- can learn Hyper Beam and Giga Impact". Wall of text, lol. ~ Blitzamirin ~ 23:04, 23 July 2011 (UTC)

I'm not sure if that should be stated, as while it is true of in-game data, canonically, those Pokemon have never been fully evolved. An example is M12, where Probopass appears 1000 years in the past. Though if you want to add it, I won't remove it or anything. And I'm not having any problems over here, thanks for asking though. :) XVuvuzela2010X 23:21, 23 July 2011 (UTC)
Nah, now that I see them, they don't need edits. You edited them to fit better. Well done. ~ Blitzamirin ~ 23:44, 23 July 2011 (UTC)

My edit

Why did you revert my message? I am a talking Scrafty! Talk to me! 21:19, 11 August 2011 (UTC)

Because it's not supposed to be asked. The number of edits needed is a secret that only the highest Admins know (that is, if even they know). It's to stop people using Bulbapedia and their userpage as just a Bebo or Facebook. XVuvuzela2010X 21:39, 11 August 2011 (UTC)

Trivia

Stop adding it in. The new sitenotice is to let people know Bulbawikis will be closed. That does not give you the go ahead to go on a trivia adding spree. Unless Deth explicitly says you can fully add trivia, it's still not acceptable. --P S Yライダー 16:04, 19 August 2011 (UTC)

Sorry, I didnt realise. I'll stop adding them. XVuvuzela2010X 16:08, 19 August 2011 (UTC)
Also, you might want to do research into your claims next time...Skarmory has a beak, it can learn Peck and Pluck, and best of all, it can learn Drill Peck by breeding, since Gen II in fact, as well as through the Dream World. Also, Liepard not learning Shadow Force? That's Giratina's signature move, there's no way Liepard will get it. So, please check first into what you're adding. Thanks. --P S Yライダー 12:28, 25 August 2011 (UTC)
Though it is a bird, its "beak" does look more like a mouth, like Lugia and Archeops. And Nidoran♂, Goldeen, Maractus, Karrablast and Piloswine can also learn Peck, and Rattata and Zubat can learn Pluck. Unlike these two, Drill Peck's Japanese name actually mentions beak, and is exclusively learned by bird Pokemon. As for signature moves, they come and go. And I'm not really sure why my edits to Bellsprout, Rogenrolla and Victini (though that one wasnt by yourself) were undone (besides the trivia ban). As far as I am aware, Roggenrolla and its evolution dont have eyes, unless the anime has shown otherwise? And the trivia that was added to Karen, Morty and Steven is also on Flint's page. XVuvuzela2010X 03:47, 28 August 2011 (UTC)
That thing in the middle of Roggenrola's face is its eye. Yes it's shown the anime to act like an eye, dilating pupil in all, but it just seems obvious that it's an eye even with out it as Gigalith's eyes are similar. Same with Boldore. I removed the Victini being the only Pokémon whose reason for its placement in the Pokédex is revealed because it's not really important to know. --ケンジガール 04:51, 28 August 2011 (UTC)
Fair enough, though in Roggenrola's Pokedex entriy, it does state that the hexagon is its ear, as daft as it sounds. XVuvuzela2010X 05:03, 28 August 2011 (UTC)
Also, late reply, but the Skarmory thing was my bad, it was early morning and I misread it as it not being able to learn Drill Peck, so apologies on that. As for the Gym Leaders, we don't know why they didn't give them certain Pokemon, but it's pretty safe to say for diversity, and it's kinda obvious to say that Karen doesn't have Sneasel or Tyranitar, simply by looking at her party in such. They could have used location as a factor as well, Morty being near Gastly and far away from Mt. Silver, point is it's really not notable to point it out. --P S Yライダー 20:59, 31 August 2011 (UTC)

Before you continue

Stop for a moment. Some of them do have that there, while some don't. The staff is going to have to decide what to do in this case. --P S Yライダー 15:24, 1 September 2011 (UTC)

OK. XVuvuzela2010X 15:26, 1 September 2011 (UTC)
I should add that it doesnt really fit well with some of them (like the starters) which were revealed during Gen IV. XVuvuzela2010X 15:29, 1 September 2011 (UTC)
Introduced, not revealed. --P S Yライダー 15:32, 1 September 2011 (UTC)
I think it's still a bit ambiguous. Saying it was introduced in Generation V gives the impression that it was never seen before Black and White were released. XVuvuzela2010X 15:38, 1 September 2011 (UTC)
They always reveal Pokemon before their generation, but they are introduced for catching and playing in the new main series game. Togepi was revealed in Gen I, it was introduced in GSC. --P S Yライダー 15:43, 1 September 2011 (UTC)
It makes sense for Togepi, etc, but it wouldnt sound right for Bonsly, since from a technical view, it was introduced in Gen III/XD. XVuvuzela2010X 15:50, 1 September 2011 (UTC)

Help

In the APNG Anime Maker, how did you save the combined images? PattyMan 22:52, 15 September 2011 (UTC)

I get the images from the episodes by using imagegrab, resize them (if needed) using ImRe, then open them and save them with APNG. Hope that helps. XVuvuzela2010X 23:21, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
I grabbed a whole bunch of images and placed them on APNG Anime Maker. I clicked on the save button and it gave me a non-animated image on the desktop. Wasn't sure if it will animate properly. PattyMan 23:46, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
They wont animate on the desktop if they are PNG, but they will animate when they are uploaded. If you use Dropbox, move the image to the Public folder then ricght link and copy the public link, then it will animate when viewed in Firefox. XVuvuzela2010X 23:53, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
You can open images in firefox straight from your computer too. Right click -> Open With, choose Firefox. Werdnae (talk) 00:06, 16 September 2011 (UTC)
Never thought of that. Cheers. XVuvuzela2010X 00:19, 16 September 2011 (UTC)
Only just noticed this section, but I might as well say that drag the image icon from the folder it is in straight onto firefox and it shows the image animated, which saves time and having to reopen and close firefox.----Chalkwriter 19:36, 24 September 2011 (UTC)

That template

Sorry I got a little grumpy at you. Something I want to happen across the whole wiki is for all templates to be tested before they put into use, because of their potential to propagate mistakes. Even relatively simple ones, just because some templates (including the recent move template changes) got rushed out without adequate testing, and the damage that can be done by a single typo really showed. So again, sorry about that. Werdnae (talk) 07:55, 20 September 2011 (UTC)

Empoleon

As I started looking down the article I noticed that it is black in Anime and art, but navy blue in games. So I'm going to change now it so says it is ether mostly black or navy blue. Truthseeker4449 22:26, 8 October 2011 (UTC)

Editing templates

If you're uncertain how to do something in an existing template, could I please get you to make a mockup in your userspace and preview substituting that on the page, rather than editing the existing template? Editing templates repeatedly stresses the servers, as it has to be updated everywhere it is used every time it is saved. I won't count it towards the userspace limit testing templates like that either (just please don't go overboard). Thanks, and keep up the good work. Werdnae (talk) 02:05, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

Regarding Project Globe

Your article is coming along nicely, but needs some more information on the anime primarily. Also do try to integrate content from articles such as Sky1, ITV1, CITV et al as those can all become redirects if this becomes a real article. Let me know if you have any questions or anything! :D --ZestyCactus 00:01, 25 October 2011 (UTC)

Staryu

Okey... but look at Starly. It's exclusive to White and item template doesn't have field for Black filled-in, unlike the FireRed and Staryu. Marked +-+-+ 20:44, 26 October 2011 (UTC)

I'm working on some additions to add to that template, so that all games the Pokemon is in can be added, and it can clearly state if a Pokemon has a held item in a game or not. The current way of only adding games a Pokemon is legitimately available in can be confusing and misleading. Vuvuzela2010 20:50, 26 October 2011 (UTC)

Misty's Egg

Do you really think we should add Misty's Togepi under those EP articles? May's egg wasn't added in AG150. I mean, it might be a spoiler for some, and it was Brock's at the time, anyway. --LimeGreenCharizard-- 21:14, 28 October 2011 (UTC)

I don't think its a spoiler, since thats what the summaries are for, but I never thought about Togepi's ownership. Though I think the way you've linked it now is fine. Vuvuzela2010 22:16, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
Okay. And thank you for updating EP's with everyone's eggs. --LimeGreenCharizard-- 22:26, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
To add on this conversation, it is a spoiler when you add it to episodes in which the Pokémon is still in its egg. It is not stated in any of the summaries of pre-hatched eggs what the Pokémon is. Let's say someone who watched EP046 decides to read the article but they had not yet watched EP050. Yeah... I know that's extremely rare but there are still some people out there who haven't seen it. They are not expecting for what was in the egg to be revealed so obviously.
Also I don't believe eggs should count as characters or debuts. It's not a Pokémon, yet. I think it's similar if the anime ever decided to throw a pregnant woman in an episode. Would we ever put "Unborn baby" in the characters too? Please, in a situation like this, could you please come and discuss it with me first so I can have an opinion on it? You don't have to do it for everything but preferably anything that involves a new idea and mass updating. Thank you. --ケンジガール 06:40, 29 October 2011 (UTC)
I guess it makes sense when you use the pregnant example. Sorry about that. Vuvuzela2010 12:00, 29 October 2011 (UTC)

alternately colored pokemon

ok im so sorry about this post here im new and i dont get anything i was trying to work out how to make a new topic here but i couldn't find out Sorry. So what this is about is List of alternately colored pokemon in the anime i was thinking maybe you could put May's bulbasaur and the red snorlax from training daze. I know that the red snorlax was not actually a snorlax but when jessie, james, cassidy and butch where told they did not react as if they had not heard of it but i belive there is a legendary red snorlax but of course its up to you i defanatly believe May's bulbasaur should be there though.

I had actually added Bulbasaur to this page, but I guess it can also be added to the alternately coloured Pokemon page as well, since Butterfree and Lapras are there too. As for the Red Snorlax, I haven't seen that episode, but since its just some guy in a suit, it probably shouldnt be added, unless it appeared again in the episode under different circumstances (like in a film or something)?Vuvuzela2010 20:46, 13 October 2011 (UTC)

If you want to add a new section to a talk page, click the + at the top of the page, next to edit.
The Kabuto does appear to be a different colour, so I've added it to a new page for alternately coloured Pokemon in other media. Vuvuzela2010 Δ 21:53, 1 November 2011 (UTC)

Ok so here a rhyhorn thats more of blue then grey and has pointy spikes instead of usually being blunt http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/File:Bandai_Rhyhorn_card.jpg and here is a cloyster that is blue instead of a dark purple color http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/File:Bandai_Cloyster_card.jpg. here is a doduo that is a golden color instead of brown http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/File:Bandai_Doduo_card.jpg. Here is a dodrio that is more golden then brown http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/File:Bandai_Dodrio_card.jpg. Here is a graveler that has golden fingers http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/File:Bandai_Graveler_card.jpg. Here is a venomoth that has different colored eyes http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/File:Bandai_Venomoth_card.jpg. Here is a bulbasaur with different markings on his head http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/File:Bandai_Bulbasaur_card.jpg. Also iv decided to watch every single pokemon episode so i can help you and play all the games iv got. :)
I wouldnt say those ones are differently coloured, Rhyhorn's Dream World artwork also shows it to be blue. Sugimori's artwork style varies with each Generation, and in the first Generation, the colours are usually a bit off, likely due to their age. And Venomoth's eyes are yellow because its using an attack (though it has been depicted with yellow spots on its wings). Vuvuzela2010 Δ 15:22, 2 November 2011 (UTC)

ok sure but then isnt it the same with the kabuto?

kybett98 november 2nd 2011

I'm not sure, as its not just a different shade of colour, it looks like its a completely different colour, though that may be down to it using Harden. Vuvuzela2010 Δ 15:53, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
