Because you're new, there might be a few things to get used to on a wiki.
First things first, just because you can edit every page doesn't mean you should (for example, you probably should not make edits like this one). If you think something's cool, or you want to say hi to a user, that's what the talk page is for (the "discussion" or "talk page" tab at the top of every article). We try to keep the articles here on Bulbapedia looking fairly professional; we are an encyclopedia after all. So little notes and comments should go to the discussion pages instead.
Also, when you do edit a talk page (like I'm doing here), sign your comment with four tildes (these little squiggly ~ lines are tildes). That will automatically add your name and the date to the end of your comment, so people know who said what. (it all gets rather confusing if nobody signs.)

- It appears that you haven't used a wiki before, and that's OK. For one, every time you make a comment on a talk page, make sure you use a colon (:) at the start your comment. It makes everything look prettier ;).

- Alright, let me try to answer a few more questions...
- To clarify on the colon (:) deal, you can actually add a whole bunch, they indent once for each one. Whenever you reply to someone's comment, just add one more colon then they did, and it'll make a nifty little chain. Easy to read. =D
- You can also add a new section to someone's talk page with the little + tab at the top of the page, since otherwise I have trouble finding your comment.
- Let's see now. When you say you want to add "I liek mudkipz", do you mean like this? That's a userbox. If you add the code
{{User Mudkip}}to your userpage, it'll automatically put the userbox in there. - And one more thing; pressing "enter" to make a new line doesn't actually work on a wiki, because we use HTML code for pages. If you want to make a new line, you've got to press enter twice. a little confusing, but you'll get the hang of stuff here pretty quick, don't worry. =D Use the "show preview" button a LOT, it really helps you get a feel for how the code works. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 22:51, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

Hi
I noticed you have been editing the User: namespace a lot today. You may not be aware of this, but Bulbapedia has a Userspace policy that asks users to try and minimize the number of userspace edits they make in a short period of time. Instead of making multiple edits, why not use the Preview button (Alt + Shift + P) located right next to the edit button to look at your page and see how it is coming? That way, your page can look great while staying within the required amount of edits. Instead of editing the userspace, as a wiki, we encourage users to edit the mainspace. - I think 'Deth was trying to say "edit articles, and improve them in a factual manner".
- But yes, try not to think of Bulbapedia as a social website; We have the Bulbagarden forums for that sort of stuff. (there's a link on the left.) Having a pretty userpage here is great and all, but do try to contribute to the rest of the 'pedia too. Even if you're just correcting spelling errors here and there, you're helping out.
- There's no "official" limit on userpage edits, but if you're making three times as many edits to your userpage as you are to the rest of the 'pedia, then you're probably editing your userpage too much.
- "Less is more", don't forget that little bit of info. Userboxes are great and all, but try not to get too excited, okay. =D

Hi, yeah. Here's a great hint to being good at editing a wiki: hit the "edit this page" tab, but don't change anything; just look at the coding and how it corresponds to the article. It's how I did it. TTEchidna 00:52, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

- Indent by putting a colon (:) at the start of your comment. For the party template, just copy paste from a page and change whatever you want, without making any redlinks or any of that, using the preview button until you have exactly what you want. Do not edit the User: namespace any more. In the past, we were not allowed to edit our pages at all because of users over-editing their pages. Grammar. Gotta appreciate it. Capitalize proper nouns and adjectives, such as Normal-type. And make sure that trivia isn't duplicated.
