Happy 2010 folks. Maybe a gift for me for the new year? Don't kill the talk page before Bulbapedia's upcoming FIFTH ANNIVERSARY! TTEchidna

Official site and press site says lowercase.--immewnitythemew 04:07, 13 January 2010 (UTC)

Well. I guess if we've got agreement... We have English boxart, does it say the lowercase W too? TTEchidna 04:20, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
They all do :p I still say we go for the change haha... Yaminokame 04:27, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
Okay. Your job is relinking, then. I'll probably move it sometime soon. TTEchidna 04:39, 13 January 2010 (UTC)

Poké Ball

I found the GSC entry for the Ultra Ball. It says "A BALL with a high rate of success.". Since the page is protected, I can't do anything about it, but you can make the edit since you're a sysop. Thanks! Oh, I also found the Great Ball's entry, too. "A BALL with a decent success rate". Just thought I'd add that. :) --Oz (The Wizard at Work!) 06:28, 16 January 2010 (UTC)

Great. Make sure that you don't allcaps stuff, though. If it's allcaps in Gen I-III, chances are, it's meant just to be initial-cap'd. TTEchidna 06:34, 16 January 2010 (UTC)

CAPS in description of Route 110 signage

You changed "TEAM MAGMA" and "TEAM AQUA", taken directly from in-game text, to "Team Magma" and "Team Aqua". Is there some rule that says no caps-locked words even if that's how they are in-game, or did you just assume that they weren't in caps in-game? Looking at it anew, I can understand how it might look ugly; would it perhaps be better if the caps were like "Team Magma" and "Team Aqua"? Tiddlywinks 06:43, 16 January 2010 (UTC)

No. Caps is bad. Gen III and before did that so the words stood out. Do we have it as PIKACHU (Pokémon) or Pikachu (Pokémon)? No small-caps either unless it's a specific style, like the Wonder Cards, it's blah. TTEchidna 06:49, 16 January 2010 (UTC)

New template creation

Hey, could you point me in the right direction? There seems to be a problem with the way some tables in Pokémon Rumble locations are viewed, due to my cheap, throw-away coding. I'd like to make tables that resemble the present/absent tables (ex: here). I don't know how to start and I don't have enough time to learn. (I'm being heckled by Sidnoea right now.) Would you be able to help me create the template, or can you tell me who can? Thanks!! Jazzmoth 21:03, 16 January 2010 (UTC)

Templates are easy to make. Usually for a Pokémon list, you start off by making a table that shows how it'll look. You split that into the header, base, and footer: the header is the top of the table, the footer is notes and the end of the table, and the base is each individual row, usually a Pokémon. When put together they become a big table. And usually I take care of them but we've had a few others do so, so check out some of the creators of the templates. TTEchidna 00:14, 17 January 2010 (UTC)

Those Apricorn templates

They're so big and so orange that they make my eyes bleed. What about shortening them a bit? Like deleting the "Introduced in Gen II" thing. All Apricorns debuted in Gen. II. It's redundant. At least make those templates less wide, hence less ugly. --Maxim 10:05, 17 January 2010 (UTC)

That's the items template. All items have the "introduced in Gen X" part. Haven't you seen my testing? TTEchidna 10:11, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
Still, that should be made smaller. Also, in the case of Pokéballs, it's still redudant as we have them already grouped in section according to the generations they first appeared in. Also, you completely ignored the Gen. II Park Ball. It's not completely the same as Compe Ball (OMG, I can't wait for English version when we'll stop using that unreasoned idiotic "é"). It had different name in both Japanese and English (probably) and was different in design. We can't ignore the fact that something like "Park Ball" existed in Gen II. There's just one problem - there were no item sprites back then (hell, why did they HAVE to replace such an awesome Ball with some useless normal PokeBall with a sticker). --Maxim 10:15, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
The Compé Ball is the Park Ball. Same use, same catch rate, same place... in all technicalities I'd say we ought combine the Exp. All and Exp. Share, since they are the same in Japan. And the Park Ball... um, that wasn't official art we had before, as far as the style appears. And note the note at the bottom, of course. It was known as the Park Ball in Gen II.
As for taking out the gen-intro thing... I can make a million exceptions and it'll still be "redundant" for those who've been with the series since Gen I. For once, I'm actually thinking of the new kids who never had GS, and only have HGSS.
I don't much like the Compé's design, either, you know, but that's how it goes. TTEchidna 10:45, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
I believe that some hidden art for Park Ball DOES exist, since they appear in practically the same design in both Anime and PokeSpe. Also, the art which PokeSho has in his PokeBall article looks pretty official (though, you never know, Pokesho is an amazing fanartman). Of course, we may say that Compe Ball was just renamed (to avoid confusion with Pal Park Ball) and visually overhauled (redesigns happen, see Itemfinder) but the fact that it used to be green and called "Park Ball" should definitely be noted. --Maxim 10:58, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
Well, take a look at our thing. We've got Compé and Park Ball art here, too, in the 25-ball art. And my girlfriend basically edited that in. I don't know personally if PokéSho did the edit himself (hey it's doable) but yeah. Plus, hey, it didn't have a sprite in Gen II, so what can you do? ItemFinder will be interesting, unless they call the HGSS one "Dowsing Machine" like the Pokétch App. TTEchidna 11:39, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
Of course. Pokesho might just edit it. He's a fanart master, after all. As for Itemfinder, I don't believe that they'll rename it. "Dowsing Machine" exceeds the 12 character limit. And HGSS is built on Platinum's engine so this limit ain't gonna change (and I doubt that it ever will). --Maxim 12:48, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, tradition and all. Maybe they'll CamelCase it as ItemFinder, though. TTEchidna 21:46, 17 January 2010 (UTC)

I'm recommending that this user have the "abuse" tag slapped on. The user in question accrued two userspace warnings with the main account, then used a sockpuppet called "Smoochum xx" to try to get around those warnings and garnered two more userspace warnings in the process. Checkuser verifies that "Smoochum xx" is indeed Smoochum's sockpuppet, and hence why I'm combining the number of overall warnings to four and calling for the slap-on of an "abuse" tag as a result. Can this request be done? Thanks. --Shiningpikablu252 19:24, 17 January 2010 (UTC)

got it. was wondering if the user should get a block too, for the "user warning" evasion though... -- MAGNEDETH 19:43, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
The sock for sure should get an infinite. The plain user, eh, a day. First offense is warning. TTEchidna 21:30, 17 January 2010 (UTC)

Blaine's gym quiz machines

You know the last question, right? The one that in the English versions asks if TM28 contains Tombstoner? Well, I wanted to see what was the question in the Japanese versions and this is what I got:

So what is the word or expression しねしねこうせん Shineshinekōsen supposed to mean? しねしね results in "rice rice" (?) and こうせん means light beam, but I'm not seeing how it could be translated properly. Pokemon lover 21:27, 19 January 2010 (UTC)

I dunno. TTEchidna 22:00, 19 January 2010 (UTC)
Hold on, how did "Tombstoner" come about? As far as I recall, the fake move name was actually "Tombstony", at least in Yellow and Generation III...--Shiningpikablu252 01:13, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
It's Tombstoner. And I'm pretty sure that's in all Gens with Kanto. I can check though... R.A. Hunter Blade 05:22, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
しねしねこうせん - I'm going to guess that しね is supposed to be the informal imperative form of the verb "to die;" ie. "DIE!!!" And that doubling it is supposed to make it sound sillier. So, roughly, "DEATH BEAM!!!" or something, probably meant to be a play off of Hakai Kousen (aka. Hyper Beam), which means "Destruction Beam." In other words... it's a ridiculous fake attack name that is supposed to be easily identified as false, like "Tombstoner." 梅子 05:49, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
I dunno why I said rice in the first place but anyways, thanks for translating it. ;-) Pokemon lover 14:21, 20 January 2010 (UTC)

Tombstoner should SO be a move lol --GEN1KING 03:45, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

Are the servers crashing for you too?

Is it just my computer, but about every 15 min. the servers crash? Do you know how to fix this, or am I asking the wrong person.... -The Question

Our tech guy's been on vacation, actually, so he hasn't been able to deal with our heavy traffic issue. Don't worry, all will be fixed rather soon; we're going so far as to have a third server before HGSS is out. TTEchidna 20:36, 24 January 2010 (UTC)

Overworld sprites

Are there gender differences? Just asking before it becomes an issue (if it is true). ht14 03:53, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

025 梅子 03:56, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
Only in a couple of those which have in-battle differences. For example, Sneasel doesn't, but Pikachu does. Only 12 Pokémon differ in the overworld. TTEchidna 04:08, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
OK, thanks. So it'd be Hippopotas for instance. What about Buizel and Floatzel (back view)? ht14 04:11, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
Nope. They're, strangely enough, not among those gendered. TTEchidna 06:46, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
Very strange... ht14 01:33, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
Hippopotas is, in case that wasn't clear. TTEchidna 01:43, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

I was thinking, when the next generation of spritebox rolls out, do you think we could include clauses for the Kabutops and Aerodactyl fossils? It would probably look better than the random box we have there now.--MisterE13 06:32, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

Are those necessary though? I mean, they're fossilized versions, yeah, but they're only in RGBY/FRLG, and really belong just on the Pewter Museum page. TTEchidna 06:45, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
Its up to you guys I guess I just really hate what we have now. I also doubt it would be that complicated but whatever.--MisterE13 16:13, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
The current template we have is in need of a workover. I've tried something for it, but that ended up looking terrible, so we're gonna keep trying. TTEchidna 00:13, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
What we have for the fossils that is.--MisterE13 02:46, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
Well, come Gen V, we might be getting further stuff. In the lull we're gonna improve Gen III. TTEchidna 03:03, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

Border-radius workaround?

As you know well, we use moz-border-radius, despite WebKit and Presto having their respective specifications. I'm also pretty sure that the problems will be solved when border-radius becomes a web standard. However, I think I might discovered a workaround here. I don't understand PHP so I can't say nothing about the subject but is there something that could be applied on our sites? Pokemon lover 21:58, 25 January 2010 (UTC)

That's for the site's CSS. Templates... not so much. It appears to work pretty much the same, but to actually have it work on Safari, Chrome, and Opera, that'd be a hell of a lot of extra code to put in on every instance of -moz-border-radius, let alone for the things that only have one or two corners rounded, such as table cells. And considering there's still nothing for that crapsack of a web browser, IE, I think we can put this on the back burner until there's a way to activate roundycorners in every browser with one codecall, rather than three to activate it in four browsers. A majority of our users use Firefox anyway, and the templates look just fine in IE and other browsers even without the roundy, so don't worry about it. TTEchidna 00:12, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
Too late for an answer, I know. At least, I understood somewhat better the reasons and hope that it becomes a standard the soonest possible because even though I haven't been using Firefox for a while now, I miss the roundy corners. Fortunately, both Chrome and Opera (likely Safari as well) support them to an extent already, even here on the 'Pedia, so it's a good sign. Pokemon lover 17:43, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

New Psybeam Pic

File:Mew Psybeam.png

I got a pretty cool screenshot of Mew from Pokémon The First Movie. The Psybeam page seems to have some decent pictures, but I think that maybe the Mew (movie 1) page could use a better picture. This is just my opinion, but if the current picture did not have a title above it, I doubt anyone would be able to tell that it was using teleport.

Go for it. TTEchidna 04:02, 28 January 2010 (UTC)
Okay, I replaced the picture on the Mew (movie 1) page, but it has some sort of a weird border around it. Did I do something wrong? ----GEN1KING 04:43, 28 January 2010 (UTC)
It's like that, or at least, that's what the templates on other pages says.--ForceFire 05:08, 28 January 2010 (UTC)
You must've not cut out those pixels. TTEchidna 05:17, 28 January 2010 (UTC)
It's a bad pic, and will be replaced soon. I think everybody here needs to understand that. Any pic that is a fullscreen pic from a pokémon movie is cropped. Don't forget those words. --Hmdwgf 06:22, 28 January 2010 (UTC)
It's nice and all, but nothing matters if it won't show on the page. It might just be because of the 503 problems and it isn't loading, but I'm not having any problems with anything else. R.A. Hunter Blade 23:29, 28 January 2010 (UTC)

Could you please undo that edit you made to it a few hours ago? It doesn't allow artwork from alternate formes to be displayed, such as on Shaymin's page. While it works for most of the Pokémon, it doesn't work for all of them. Werdnae (talk) 05:18, 28 January 2010 (UTC)

Ah, true true. I didn't think of that. TTEchidna 05:19, 28 January 2010 (UTC)

The undo button

I have a question- everytime I click the "undo" button to undo an edit, I get the link to edit the whole page. Why is that? --Hmdwgf 09:22, 29 January 2010 (UTC)

Just how undos work. TTEchidna 09:24, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
So how do I undo an edit? I forgot to add one thing, I can straight do that in the archives, but not here. Have some of my prvelieges been revoked?! --Hmdwgf 09:27, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
How do you undo an edit? Hit undo, then save the page. TTEchidna 10:01, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
I know it sounds stupid; but I did that, and that doesn't happen. That happens for me on the archives, but not on the 'pedia. --Hmdwgf 10:20, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
What page? TTEchidna 10:21, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
I tried it on this one, and I have tried undoing edits on other pages, but it never works. --Hmdwgf 10:29, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
So you click "undo" on the history page, and then it takes you to something like this? Just. Hit. Save. THE END. TTEchidna 10:32, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
Exactly. That's exactly what happens. Save where? This is impossible... --Hmdwgf 10:52, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
Scroll down. Below the editbox. Like it always is. Or hit Alt + Shift + S. TTEchidna 10:53, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
I did that, and the page is still the same as before. --Hmdwgf 10:59, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
You sure you didn't just undo something small, like punctuation? TTEchidna 23:16, 29 January 2010 (UTC)
No, I tried to undo an add on to a main paragraph. --Hmdwgf 12:45, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
...and? TTEchidna 18:55, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
What you described before happened. On the fourth response, eighth sentence. --Hmdwgf 05:51, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
Gimme the link to the page history in question. TTEchidna 05:56, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
Here. (I have no idea what the template (if there is one) for history pages). But it's not just this page, its all of Bulbapedia. --Hmdwgf 07:31, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
←What revision? TTEchidna 07:38, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
← The third one down. --Hmdwgf 07:41, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
Yeah. You undid it. It doesn't remove the revision from the history page or anything. TTEchidna 07:55, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
Yes, I undid it, but not by clicking the undo button. I'm sorry, but you haven't helped me at all... thanks for trying though. --Hmdwgf 08:20, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
Is it possible you just removed the paragraph without clicking the undo button?--ForceFire 08:28, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
That's what I did. But it's so simple, right? All you do is click the undo button, click save, and it goes back to the revision before the one you're undoing. That's the way it works on the archives and on Wikipedia, so I figured that's how it works on Bulbapedia... is it?--Hmdwgf 08:39, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
Wait.... so what exactly is the problem? You undid the edit. And what you just described is exactly what happens. But you're still unsure about how to undo something... R.A. Hunter Blade 22:39, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
Just because it "goes back" doesn't mean it removes the one from history. TTEchidna 02:26, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
THIS IS MY PROBLEM. YES, EVERYTIME I CLICK THE UNDO BUTTON IN THE PAGE HISTORY, IT REDIRECTS TO THIS. Does everybody understand now? --Hmdwgf 13:00, 2 February 2010 (UTC)
There's nothing wrong with that. That's what's supposed to happen, unless you want to get rid of that part that you added in, because then you'd be undoing your own edit. R.A. Hunter Blade 13:32, 2 February 2010 (UTC)
Are you sure? Because that doesn't happen to me in the archives. --Hmdwgf 13:45, 2 February 2010 (UTC)
You're editing files in the archives, not pages. The undo button leads you to an edit window. Only admins have access to a rollback button that skips that step, but that's meant to deal with vandals. --electAbuzzzz 13:48, 2 February 2010 (UTC)
I have seen rollback undos by users who are not admins on Bulbapedia. Just look at the history page on this article. --Hmdwgf 13:56, 2 February 2010 (UTC)
Those are not rollbacks. Those are users who hit "undo", went to the edit page, and then hit save. The edit summary is done automatically. This convo is over, Echy's talk page does not need to die over this. --electAbuzzzz 14:19, 2 February 2010 (UTC)
That doesn't work for me. I give up... --Hmdwgf 15:42, 2 February 2010 (UTC)

Not sure if you're the person to talk to about this, but unless it's just my computer or something, the servers crash, like, every ten minutes! It's just driving me insane! Maybe it's someone editing there userspace or something, many users seem to do that relentlessly when they first get there accounts(I remember Magnedeth mentioning that it slows down the servers to me a long while back). Anyway, if there is anything you can do or any way I can help, please do or say so. --GEN1KING 03:43, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

It's a glitch. Our programmer will be back in a week (he went on vacation shortly before the major problems began) and we're going to be putting in a third server soon. Don't worry. Stuff will be back to normal in time for the HGSS bomb. TTEchidna 04:20, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
I'm sorry, I must interrupt to say that in my over 2 years here, regular crashes ARE what is "normal". Virtual-Z 09:15, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
That... yeah it's true. It's because we're the best site that we can't keep up with our own growth. TTEchidna 10:11, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

DP082 Spam

WHY did you spam DP082 saying that Wake should have a Mawile? Your references are not funny. You should delete them from the wiki. magikarp123193 14:56, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

He did that way before all these strict talk page rules were in place. You deleted it already. I don't know why you have to harass him about it. --ケンジガール 15:03, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
You do realize that I'm the guy who runs the wiki and make sure it grows and prospers, right? TTEchidna 02:36, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

The recent protection for Kog's TC thing had a little thing saying "cascading" at the end. What the heck do you mean by "cascading"? CuboneKing 02:33, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

Protects all pages transcluded in that page. It's so that I didn't have to createprotect two new color templates that aren't made yet. TTEchidna 02:35, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

Cross-Wiki Redirects

Although cross-wiki redirects now work, is there a way to keep them out of the broken redirect listings? (Even if such way is to wait until MediaWiki version 1.16 becomes available to us?)

(On a side note, is "Spipoopy" the idea of a TEIEN joke? Our coding points to Zelda, Zelda's coding points to Mario, and Mario's coding points back to us. No doubt it's showing up in their double redirects as well as ours...) --Shiningpikablu252 16:51, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

Spipoopy's a test page. Seeing if it works was the reason. TTEchidna 19:05, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

Policy states that we wait until the episode airs or the game is released. No exceptions. ▫▪Ťïňắ 20:00, 2 February 2010 (UTC)
Where does it say that? --Shiny Noctowl 20:02, 2 February 2010 (UTC)
Multiple talk pages, and will be part of the new MoS when it's all finalized. Still it's common knowledge/sense to wait until the episode airs before we start moving articles all over the place, especially if people bother to check the articles for why they're protected. Kotone is likely going to be named Lyra in the anime. But has repeatedly gotten names extremely wrong. Anyone remember, "Audrey", "Batcher", "Charleton", and "Charlene" just to name the most memorable. has proven itself, while an official source, it isn't always reliable when it comes to dub names. If we wait until it airs, we will know the name for certain and avoid any possible multi-moves. And this fully includes HGSS, where the dub name does not confirm an in-game name. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 20:30, 2 February 2010 (UTC)

Really, why are you so stubborn about that Gold thing? That was never his officially official name. Those were just silly Gen. II booklets referring to him as such. But he didn't exist as NPC back then so all the names were just optional choices, there wasn't a real canon name for him at all. NPC names are the only 100% confirmed ones. And his NPC name is Ethan, not Gold. HGSS doesn't use "Gold" at all, not even as an optional choice. It annoys me how you keep comparing this to Red's situation. Red was a NPC in GSC already. And his NPC name was Red. "Ash" or "Jack" don't have anything to do with it - those are just optional choices that have never been used in a canon context in the games (aside from old Prima guides), calling Red "Ash" would make as much sense as calling May "Kimmy". This isn't really the case for Gold/Ethan. The only really confirmed name for him is Ethan. Even if GameFreak DID plan to name him "Gold" in Gen II times - they didn't really confirm it anywhere (booklets were made by USers, they're no proof). We just assumed "Gold" because of Red and Blue/Green. But since HGSS revealed his name as Ethan/Hibiki, that means it's his real name. It's not a retcon or a change, just a denial of our old (and widespread) assumption. It was obvious that they wouldn't change Red to "Ash" or anything. The name "Red" has been long confirmed and used in NPC context. It would be a blatant, nosense retcon. --Maxim 09:30, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

Because I'm whiny. And because I'd've rather he been named Josh. TTEchidna 09:32, 3 February 2010 (UTC)
So, "Gold" will be moved to "Ethan", right? Being whiny is not a reason. I also suggest moving "Pearl" to "Barry", something that I proposed already awhile ago. --Maxim 09:34, 3 February 2010 (UTC)
Obviously it's not a reason, and yes, I agree about moving Pearl to Barry... but that's better taken care of in about 12 hours, when more people are on to help with the aftermath of the move... But Gold's not moving until we've got a source aside from Serebii. He's got insider clues, apparently, but I wanna see the game myself before I move stuff. TTEchidna 09:45, 3 February 2010 (UTC)
Of course. I'm not saying moving him now, as we'd have to move everything else. I was asking about moving him at all. And I'm glad that we agreed on Barry. Thanks! --Maxim 09:58, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

By the way...

What are Toribird and Masamunegi? Sound like new Pokémon but I can't find any news anywhere? Are these new trademarks, or what? --Maxim 10:14, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

They're fake Pokémon in a fake scan. Supposed evos of Delibird & Farfetch'd. The scan originally said it was fake but someone cropped out that bit and it's started to spread. --Serebii 10:17, 3 February 2010 (UTC)

Manga movesets

Hey, you seem to know a lot about this. I asked CoolPikachu this question, and I ain't getting any answers, so I wanted to ask you. I watch the Pokemon Episodes online, and I put down the attacks in the 'in the anime' movesets. I was wondering if it was alright if I could put up an 'in the manga' section on the moves, using the same template and everything underneath the 'in the anime' section? Littlmiget123 22:38, 6 February 2010 (UTC)

The manga? Movesets? Which manga? What Pokémon? Wha? TTEchidna 22:44, 6 February 2010 (UTC)
Let me rephrase that, that's my fault. Okay, the in the anime section of POkemon moves, like Shadow Ball and Fire Punch. I want to do something like that for the manga. I'm sorry, it made sense in my head XD Littlmiget123 22:47, 6 February 2010 (UTC)
Still making not so much sense for me. What Pokémon? Ash's Charizard in Electric Tale, or Ataro in Adventures? TTEchidna 22:49, 6 February 2010 (UTC)
Oh, whoops, I'm kinda switching back and forth. For Pokemon Adventures, like with Red and Green, and blue and Gold, etc. etc. Littlmiget123 22:50, 6 February 2010 (UTC)
Well of course. If the template'll work with the Adventures epicodes as well as it does with the anime... Might need to have a setting to make the template change the header to "round" if it has "episode". TTEchidna 22:52, 6 February 2010 (UTC)
Okay, great! I asked CoolPikachu about it, I thought it would be appropriate since he's the head of Project manga, but he told me he'll get back to me. I asked about a week ago, and you give me an answer right away, I guess now I know who to go to XD. I don't know how to change templates, so I probably will just leave it. thanks again, my friend. Littlmiget123 22:57, 6 February 2010 (UTC)
Well, he's the main manga guy, but there's been more hecticness lately so... yeah. TTEchidna 23:00, 6 February 2010 (UTC)

Hey, I have a question, but I didn't want to start a new section. On this page, in the anime section, there are two castform sections to tell the differences between the two. I also put a S in front of the ms for the Sun Castform, and an R in front of the water type one for Rain Castform. They appeared, but this user keeps reverting them, saying they were not real. I wanted to ask an admin so we both didn't get in trouble for an edit war. Littlmiget123 22:28, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

Castform has no alternate forme sprites in its MS or OW forms. Okay? Don't bother with it. Augh. And use the link templates when linking moves. this page. TTEchidna 23:33, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
okay, thanks a lot. Littlmiget123 23:39, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

The manga section has already been put into process. Check out this page → and for more info. If you have any ideas feel free to ask inside the filled-in star over there. ←

A Ruby and Sapphire remake speculation page

Would it be a good idea to create one and then protect it?--Midnight Blue 03:56, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

Nah, Not yet. The reason the GS remake spec page was created was due to the number of references in Johto in DP. Besides, the GV games hasn't been announced yet :P--ForceFire 03:59, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

Romanization or translation: which to use when

I just read the MOS/R but that didn't answer my question. For example, I've recently changed Mt. Chimney's and Mt. Pyre's Japanese names from translations to rōmaji because it seemed like someone had copy-pasted the English names. Thus, to avoid any undesirable edits in the future, what should be performed: translations or romanizations? Another reason why this is confusing is by contrasting these two articles I mentioned with Mt. Silver's, whose Japanese name is indicated as Shirogane Mountain instead of Silverly-White Mountain (another reason why I changed Mt. Chimney's and Mt. Pyre's Japanese names to Entotsu Mountain and Oburiki Mountain, respectively). Pokemon lover 17:57, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

Good point, we're actually not very consistent on either. What I think would be good would be to have it be romanization, sort of like how Otsukimi Yama has. TTEchidna 19:58, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
Sounds good to me. But it will have to be discussed internally first, right? ポケモンあいこうか 20:15, 14 February 2010 (UTC)

I have noticed in a ton of pages, that instead of particular colors being named off in the coding, there are a set of numbers that tell it to show a color. Is there a page that can help me figure out this coding? If you don't know what I'm talking about, just look at your signature above. "C4E673" ends up being a shade of light, light green. Is there a page showing all of these codes or something? Thanks -- Landfish7 13:00, 15 February 2010 (UTC)

These are hex codes. I'm not an expert, but if what I remember is correct, the first two digits represent the Red, the next two represent the Green and the final two represent the Blue. Together they can create any color you want. Every digit can go from zero to F (which, if you count, means 16 options for each digit.) There are plenty of programs you can use to find hex codes, I (and probably most people) use Photoshop. Hope that helps. --electAbuzzzz 13:43, 15 February 2010 (UTC)
What Buzz says is correct. That's a range of 256 for each of them, counting hexadecimally (meaning after 09, you go to 0A, and after 3F you go to 40). If you notice, the color templates (which we use mostly to keep our colors easily standardized, and change them quickly across a lot of pages if we decide to) are actually hexadecimal code themselves, with the only thing that is passed when the template is transcluded being the hexadecimal code for that color. See? {{red color}} is FF1111, the color we've chosen to represent Pokémon Red. As for the light green in my signature, that's {{Bulba color}}, which we've chosen to represent Bulbagarden and Bulbapedia; signatures can't use templates so it auto-substs.
As for a page that lists colors, Wikipedia's got a hexadecimal list of colors, which has a bunch of nice ones, while there are several places online where you can find the 216 web-safe (that's basically, differential enough for the human eye to distinguish between on a crappy computer) colors. Either way, don't go crazy with custom hex colors on BP; we like to keep ours quite standard so we can use them everywhere without much thought. TTEchidna 16:50, 15 February 2010 (UTC)

Imagine it to be somewhat like a non-intrusive watermark. CP put a hell of a lot of work into assembling that map, and we don't want anyone jacking it. TTEchidna 20:04, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

Holy craaaaap. TTEchidna 20:24, 19 February 2010 (UTC)
But this doesn't look like a watermark at all. It impersonates a part of the map. Having it there IS confusing and forges the canonicity of the map. It makes this map simply fake, fan-edited. It's such a pity that Bulbapedia bans so many users for things that main admin (who's supposed to be a good example for everyone) does without any problem. But it's not a secret that this place is falling down. --Maxim 20:57, 19 February 2010 (UTC)
And Gen V will ruin the series. Look, I uploaded that map with that edit since we needed an image; CP said it was unfinished and that he'd do the rest later since his maptaker (you know... yeah) glitched out or something. TTEchidna 22:27, 19 February 2010 (UTC)
Okay, so upon the image is finished (the ugly black lines removed), that Mawile sprite will be removed as well, am I right? --Maxim 08:04, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
If you think it has to be. Why not assist with the making of the Gen IV maps, hm? TTEchidna 10:11, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
not everyone knows how to make maps. Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't those black lines appear in the games? All videos of this route I've seen have them. --HoennMaster 12:47, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
That's because all videos online use a you-know-what. TTEchidna 18:35, 20 February 2010 (UTC)

Template for games' names in other languages

I thought that since we created a template for the VAs of anime characters, we could do the same for the names of games. So if you'd please, check my sandbox. Obviously, it's not finished yet. I used the VA template as basis and the color will likely end different but first I need to know if it's a good idea or not? ポケモンあいこうか 20:00, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

We need to do it for their names, too. Now people, STOP EDITING WHILE I'M TRYING TO RESPOND, JEEZ. TTEchidna 20:04, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
What do you think of the green? ポケモンあいこうか 21:23, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
I think it'd be based on the games' colorscheme. Like DP would have a Diamond color border and a Pearl color core... TTEchidna 21:25, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
But it needs a generic colorscheme, right? I mean, imagine we would put it at Template:Langtable, wouldn't it require a colorscheme for the template itself? ポケモンあいこうか 21:33, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
A default colorscheme could be anything. Black and white. Green and purple. Who cares. As long as you have the parameters in existence for the colors to be altered there's nothing to worry about. TTEchidna 21:38, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
Alrighty then. Can I create the page at Template:Langtable or is that a job for an admin? ポケモンあいこうか 21:42, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
If it's complete and you've tested it out... TTEchidna 21:47, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

Sysop power glitch

I think something's wrong with my sysop powers. The system wouldn't let me edit Template:Animedexbody to add coding to get a link called "Swords Dance (Pokémon)" off the wanted pages, even though I should have been able to do so easily. Night Sky's Edge (Pokéwalker area)

Now that the official website also confirms that it's called "Night Sky's Edge" over "Edge of the Night's Sky," can we now move "Edge of the Night's Sky (Pokéwalker area)" to "Night Sky's Edge (Pokéwalker area)"? The only thing that seems to be protected that I would need help with in the move is updating template:PokéWalker (Yaminokame 20:24, 25 February 2010 (UTC))

They've messed up before, yada yada yada. Hell, in DPPt itself, the message reads "Obtained the Member's Card, while in the bag the item is the Member Card. TTEchidna 06:31, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
And I agree with you 100%, however, as of this point in time the official name of this course is 'Night Sky's Edge' regardless of whether it will change in the near future or not. Worse comes to worst I'll personally change everything again if it were to actually be different in the future, but as of right now it's called Night Sky's Edge :/ If you really don't want it to happen, then would you like for me to revert the people who have already started changing the wording inside the page itself to 'Night Sky's Edge' and then make a redirect for 'Night Sky's Edge' to 'Edge of the Night's Sky (Pokéwalker area)' for the time being? (Yaminokame 06:51, 26 February 2010 (UTC))
Sigh. Why does everyone jump to conclusions. TTEchidna 06:56, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
Well... you can't really blame them :/ They're trying to put facts on here and of course they trust what the official sites say and not only that but bulbanews has reported it as that too... between the two you know that there are going to be tons of people who think it is 100% confirmed without possibility of error. So you want me to revert and redirect? (Yaminokame 07:06, 26 February 2010 (UTC))
Poké may be the official site... but... yeah, we really know a hell of a lot more than them, mostly because they forget everything. TTEchidna 07:43, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
So sites which have had errors in the past shouldn't be trusted? Well then, you said it, Bulbapedia cannot be trusted. Seriously though, you're being ridiculous, the official site is trustworthy. You shouldn't just disregard it just because they've been wrong in the past --Serebii 09:28, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
The point is that page moves should not be made by jumping the gun. Link-changing is a gigantic pain. TTEchidna 09:32, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
It's not jumping the gun when official sites reveal things. You shouldn't pick and choose when to do accept stuff from official sites. Plus, isn't the only place saying it, Gamestop is too --Serebii 09:59, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
True... but that's why I had suggested doing the change by myself, first of all, no one else has to be burdened with the pain of changes because I will change everything (except for template:PokéWalker, which I can't change)... and if in the end it ended up being in vein, I will take it as my responsibility to change to the "new name." I am willing to take that risk and have that burden of changing the links. I also think it would be better for me to do it now so that when the games do come out it's already done so people can focus on adding other aspects of the games. There only seems to be 19 (including the one I can't change) pages that need small changes that, which isn't that much at all anyways :p (Yaminokame 10:01, 26 February 2010 (UTC))

Speculation against future generations

First of all, I'm not complaining about the fact that you protected Future generations of Pokémon, it's just that now, because it's protected I can't touch it to remove this section which now sounds completely stupid given that Gen V is starting to be revealed. I don't normally resort to bugging sysops about things, but the article even states that, "no new Pokémon have been revealed" which is completely untrue. Drapion 06:07, 26 February 2010 (UTC)

Speculation against future generations = the damned unpleasable fandom. TTEchidna 06:29, 26 February 2010 (UTC)

Turtwig A

What can you tell me about this editor? Turtwig A recently registered at WiKirby, and I'm wondering whether to suggest him for autopatrol or not, so I wanted to know how he does over here. I want my facts when I go to Axi ;)__Neo(T)(Home) 01:35, 27 February 2010 (UTC)

A's good in my book. Never had a problem with him at all. TTEchidna 04:45, 27 February 2010 (UTC)

Is it a hassle to get a name change on the wiki/forums? - MK (t/c) 03:35, 27 February 2010 (UTC)

On the forums, you can rename yourself. On the wiki, I have to do it. TTEchidna 04:39, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
Could you change my name to just "MK"? Since I go by that everywhere. - MK (t/c) 04:45, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
