Memory Girl

I saw your comment about a separate page for the Memory Girl. I've actually been doing some research on memories over the past few days since there's so little information about them out there (even Serebii doesn't have a page on them - HA!) Obviously as a new user I can't create the page myself, but if you could do it I'd be more than happy to contribute my findings. One thing though - should we have separate pages for the Memory Girl and the memory feature itself, or should everything be kept on one page? The memory page would have a list of all possible memories and feelings as well as what triggers each memory; I'm not sure if that would be too much to include on the character page or not.--♪ Rebel Rebel, how could they know? Hot tramp, I love you so! ♪ 17:30, 28 January 2015 (UTC)

Does the "memory" concept serve any role aside from the Memory Girl? If not, I don't see why we would want a separate memories page. --SnorlaxMonster 17:33, 28 January 2015 (UTC)
I hadn't considered that, good point. Having everything on one page seems like the best way to go. Although I wonder if maybe the page should be called Memories instead of Memory Girl, since the bulk of the information will be on the memories themselves rather than the character. On the other hand the memories are essentially character quotes, so I don't know. Whatever you decide is best.--♪ Rebel Rebel, how could they know? Mossdeep City backdoor house

Is there perhaps a reason the QR Codes for the backdoor house are not on the wiki somewhere (like perhaps List of other event distributions in Generation VI; or on Mossdeep City itself, maybe in a gallery). You linked them in your edit summaries. Tiddlywinks (talk) 02:54, 3 February 2015 (UTC)

I think they should be on the wiki somewhere, I just didn't know where to put them. If you have a good place, by all means add them. I don't think they should be mixed in with other event distributions though. --SnorlaxMonster 04:37, 3 February 2015 (UTC)

PMD move mechanics.

So I was planning on researching PMD move workings in near future (so far, I've noticed that for some reason, there seems to be two counters for drops and I have no idea how the other works, but seems to be cap at 4 uses). I've also noticed that German wiki has that nifty images to mark PMD targeting. The only place we have PMD info like that are the PMD-exclusive moves. Eridanus (talk) 12:38, 3 February 2015 (UTC)

Dream World Artwork

The Roseli Berry, Kee Berry and Maranga Berry articles each list their PGL artwork as Dream World Artwork despite these berries being introduced in Gen VI, and the fact that Gen VI does not have a Dream World. Shouldn't we change it from Dream World to PGL? Yamitora1 (talk) 01:39, 8 February 2015 (UTC)

Yeah all the Dream World artwork should probably be referred to as PGL artwork. --SnorlaxMonster 01:51, 22 March 2015 (UTC)

Heads-up on Soaring in the sky

Greetings. I hope it's okay if I'll leave my question here? I feel like situation with duscussion of renaming Soaring in the sky went a bit too far with everything, not to telling about that aside of just decision to move it somethere, there's now also template asking about splitting it apart... and everyone in tell is now just talking about what suits them best in matters of article name, even though there's already redirects from alternative article name pages. Maybe as member of Bulbapedia Staff, you can simply put an end to that discussion? i don't know... have a private discussion with other staff members on that topic for a bit, while talking on more important matters... as talk-page in Soaring in the sky now looks ridiculously long, as I see it. Thanks for your attention. TLN (talk) 06:16, 9 February 2015 (UTC)

NSW 2000 Crystal info

I'm not sure of the best place to put this on the wiki. One of the screenshots is an early version of the PokéCom Club trade room (go here for a better copy), while the other is the nurse asking which room the player wants to use for trading: Cable Club room or the PokéCom Club/mobile room (pic: モバイルと ケーブル どちらを つかって こうかん しますか?; unused English text: Would you like to trade over a GAME LINK cable or by mobile phone?)

The name "PokéCom Club" comes from unused English text, by the way (proof). The Japanese version doesn't call it something different. つうしんクラブ is CABLE CLUB in the English versions and the green NPC in Cherrygrove's Pokémon Center also calls it COMMUNICATION CENTER.

There's a POKéCOM CLUB upstairs in any POKéMON CENTER. There, you can battle or trade with a friend far away by using a MOBILE ADAPTER.
To link up, your friend must have the same kind of MOBILE ADAPTER as you.

vs.

ポケモンセンター 2かいの ポケモン つうしん クラブ で モバイルアダプタをつかって とおくにいる おともだちと たいせんや こうかんが できます
つうしんは おなじ しゅるいの モバイルアダプタを つかっている おともだちと してください

Then again, the unused English text also calls it MOBILE ROOM, which I suppose is モバイルルーム in the Japanese version. — SatoMew 18:12, 9 February 2015 (UTC)

Template:Helditems

Could you please update Template:HeldItems so that it is compatable with OR and AS? I am asking you because you are familiar with how the template works and have done so for previous games. PartHunter (talk) 07:45, 13 February 2015 (UTC)

Done. I really think that template needs to be overhauled so it is easier to maintain. --SnorlaxMonster 13:26, 14 February 2015 (UTC)

Memory indices

Why do you think the memory indices are relevant? Is it just something like, for anyone who might want (and be able) to hack their Pokemon's memories? Personally, I don't see much use to be gotten out of adding the indices or a great benefit for most users.

FWIW, going by a post on the Project Pokemon forums by Kaphotics, it seems pretty clear that the game just uses a 0-based index into the list of memories or locations or feelings. And our lists are the same as the ORAS text dump, excepting the absence of a few memory indices in the text dump that apparently have no data (06, 09, 0C, 10, 15, 19, 1F, 2A, 2C, and 3C). Tiddlywinks (talk) 13:19, 14 February 2015 (UTC)

Personally, I like info to be as detailed as possible. It feels like it's similar to List of locations by index number (Generation VI). Occasionally, these kind of things have relevance. However, it's incredibly minor and might not be worth the effort to collect them. --SnorlaxMonster 13:23, 14 February 2015 (UTC)

Wobbu-Palooza! characters

Are you fluent with Japanese and have access to the Japanese version of Wobbu-Palooza!? There are two characters named Shinji and Yahichi who are created on my userspace. I can't tell who they are as their names were only listed in Pokeani and in a Japanese-related matter. Pokeani also lists Tatsuro who is on the same page as Shinji and Yahichi. PattyMan 02:25, 19 February 2015 (UTC)

Help Requested!

Please verify that my sdex template is set up correctly, then move it to that location (I thought of creating it there but held off) and assist in setting up the first reference at User:CycloneGU/List of Pokémon by Pokémon Shuffle Browser number‎; I'll be able to do the rest from there. =) One thing that will be needed is the correct Pokémon images instead of the ones from other games, but that won't break the table if missing. CycloneGU (talk) 17:37, 24 February 2015 (UTC)

I'm going to need to look over it more carefully later, but the imediate issue I notice is that you're using "SDex", which refers to the Sinnoh Pokédex. Perhaps ShDex? --SnorlaxMonster 12:57, 2 March 2015 (UTC)

Zorua/Zoroark event-exclusives

Awhile ago, Solar Dragon and I had a disagreement over Deoxys being the first event-exclusive to no longer be as such. I asked Arc about it, but she was undecided. You've since altered Deoxys' trivia so that it's not an issue, but it still is for Zorua and Zoroark. Your thoughts? glikglak 21:44, 1 March 2015 (UTC)

I'm going to say just call it non-notable trivia and forget about it. It's a "first" rather than an "only"; IMO, we should only really worry about "only", not "first". You also have to exclude transfers from spin-off games (e.g. Ranch Mew). --SnorlaxMonster 13:08, 2 March 2015 (UTC)
The current trivia for them isn't saying first to switch, but rather only non-Legendary to have ever been. Which, if considered true, I'd say is still notable. glikglak 15:12, 2 March 2015 (UTC)
In that case, you're also ignoring Spiky-eared Pichu and the Rotom forms, although I guess you can since they are forms and not species. It's also ignoring Phione. I still think it's better to just leave it out. (If the trivia does stay though, it should be "non-Mythical and non-Legendary Pokémon".) --SnorlaxMonster 05:56, 3 March 2015 (UTC)

List of Pokémon by Pokémon Shuffle list number

I believe this page is ready to move to the mainspace as it is. However, the associated template, Sdex (could be renamed to "ShDex" since Sdex is reserved for Sinnoh), might still use an improvement I want to ask about. Are we working to get the Pokémon Shuffle images on the Wiki for use instead of the other images in there? I know some fan sites already have all of them, but assume we are adding our own copies.

Other than the images question, I believe the pages are ready to be moved and would like your input. CycloneGU (talk) 04:29, 4 March 2015 (UTC)

I am still looking for input on whether these can be moved. CycloneGU (talk) 23:28, 5 March 2015 (UTC)
We don't currently have plans to upload images from Shuffle. However, it would appear that Phiraptor28 has uploaded a bunch of Battle Trozei images, which look to be the same. It would be worthwhile asking him/her about his/her source, to see if we could get more. I think Shuffle images would be useful. --SnorlaxMonster 14:59, 28 March 2015 (UTC)
I think it would make sense to get the images people would expect to see in the game. Other sites have already done so, so while we can't just use those images from that site, we look bad by not having them ourselves. They can then be linked to Pokémon pages in the SideGames template as well as on the list page.
I've also changed the title of the section, which was outdated. CycloneGU (talk) 16:08, 28 March 2015 (UTC)

Soccer/Football

I won't go on about this, but "football" would only(!) be ambigous in the USA. *le sigh* - unsigned comment from MasterZeroFlash (talkcontribs)

Well, Bulbapedia uses American English (matching virtually all official material), so that's the most important place that it's not ambiguous. However, it's also ambiguous in other countries that refer to a different sport as "football", such as Australia (where I live) and New Zealand. --SnorlaxMonster 17:21, 14 March 2015 (UTC)

Style/anime appearances

Hey there, SM!

I wanted to ask:

1. Do photos of Pokémon count as appearances? Such as on Sandile's page.

2. And regarding style, shouldn't the subsection Other on a Pokémon's page under the section Anime appearances be a subsection of Major appearances? For example Mantine's page hasn't Other as a subsection. But the real questions is: is it really necessary for that section to exist, if under the Major appearances section does not appear a link to a Pokémon which has its own page such as Pikachu or Dewgong? Because Other refers to other Pokémon than the one which has its own page, right?

Thanks! --DJWolfy 12:29, 22 March 2015 (UTC)

I'm not really sure about the standard for formatting anime sections on Pokémon pages; I'd suggest asking Kenji-girl. However, I'll do my best to answer your questions.
  1. I think I've asked Kenji-girl about this before, and she said photos count as minor appearances. I forget how we handle statues though.
  2. IIRC, Bulbapedia staff had decided against the "Other" section before (as seen on Mantine's page), preferring the appearance be classified as either major or minor. --SnorlaxMonster 12:37, 22 March 2015 (UTC)
But Kenji said on her page that she is quite busy and may take some time to answer...
So, should the Other section on Mantine's page and on other's Pokémon with the same issue be removed? --DJWolfy 13:26, 22 March 2015 (UTC)
I guess you can remove the "Other" section. --SnorlaxMonster 03:58, 25 March 2015 (UTC)

Another question regarding style. When a sentence ends with the name of an episode which contains exclamation or question mark or any other graphic signs, do we add a period after it or no? Example here.--DJWolfy 12:56, 25 March 2015 (UTC)

Here's one I can answer with certainty. If it's an episode title such that the exclamation or question mark is in italics, our convention is to include a period after it. It doesn't apply for stuff that's not in italics though, like Pokémon Trozei! --SnorlaxMonster 13:19, 25 March 2015 (UTC)
So, in other words, here (after hello, pummelo!) the style is right while here (after the Flame Pokémon-athon! and hi-ho silver wind!) the style is wrong, right? (Sorry if am repeating myself, I just want to be sure of everything).--DJWolfy 13:24, 25 March 2015 (UTC)
Yes. --SnorlaxMonster 14:55, 28 March 2015 (UTC)

Mega Lucario Rankings

I can confirm based on past research that rankings are region-based. Apparently, in Japan, the top 50,000 players got the Lucarionite. That said, it's removed from the game now, so I can't verify the current top five; I just know that I got it on both my systems. CycloneGU (talk) 17:15, 23 March 2015 (UTC)

Page move request

Hey SnorlaxMonster, I was wondering if you could move some pages for me (I can't move pages with them leaving redirects behind). The pages are all Glitch Pokémon from Gen I: ゥ► ゥ▼ ゥ should be "ゥ► ゥ▼ ゥ (EE)", ゥ $ A (F3) should be "ゥ► ゥ▼ ゥ (F3)", ゥ 4ぁ 4 should be "ゥ 4- 4", and ゥ 4ぁ 4's redirect page should be "ゥ 4- 4 (Pokémon)". I have the information to update the List of glitch moves but these should be moved first to avoid problems later. Thanks. Adamws (talk) 03:07, 25 March 2015 (UTC)

Poké Transporter trivia

I know this is a while ago, but I only just noticed that trivia I added to Poké Transporter was reverted by you. It is accurate, as I have used it several times and it still won't back up save data because no compatable save data exists. Also, the log-in info saved is saved to the system in general, and is saved by the operating system, not the game (because it is the Nintendo Network ID log-in info). Trademarks

I found older trademarks from 2002/2003—Pocket Monsters: Topaz (ポケットモンスタートパーズ), Pocket Monsters: Tourmaline (ポケットモンスタートルマリン), and Pocket Monsters: Moonstone (ポケットモンスタームーンストーン)—but I don't know if they are meant to be titles of games. What do you think? SatoMew 16:45, 2 April 2015 (UTC)

I don't think we know if any of the trademarks are supposed to be games. May as well list them though. --SnorlaxMonster 15:06, 4 April 2015 (UTC)

Template:Eggcyc update

I've been figuring out how Eggs hatch across the generations and I've now added that all to Egg cycles. The only thing still out of date is the base Egg cycle list and the template it's built from. I made an update to Template:Eggcyc in my userspace, and I'd like to ask you to look at it and, if you think it's alright, edit the changes into the protected mainspace template. Or if you have any questions or concerns about the template, I'm more than happy to hear those, too.

(I haven't tried to replace all of the templates used within Eggcyc with their equivalent code, but perhaps you may wish to do that, since I know it's been done in other cases. And I honestly haven't tested sorting the updated template...but I don't expect it to be a problem either.) Tiddlywinks (talk) 20:32, 3 April 2015 (UTC)

It looks like I made a small mistake when I split the Gen III and IV columns. Could you change the first "494" to "387" so the Gen III column stops at the end of Gen III? Thanks. Tiddlywinks (talk) 16:01, 4 April 2015 (UTC)

Can I welcome new users in their talk pages?

Like I said above, can I welcome new users in their talk pages? I saw other users that are not admins nor jr. admins welcoming new users in their talk page. I just want to confirm. Pokéfan95 (talk) 10:15, 6 April 2015 (UTC)

Anyone can welcome new users. However, it's preferred that experienced editors do this, since if new users have questions they are likely to ask the person who welcomed them. --SnorlaxMonster 10:18, 6 April 2015 (UTC)

ThePokémonFanSince1995 06:02, 7 April 2015 (UTC)

I saw you undid my edit. I know the Nintendo 3DS has a gyro sensor, but I just want to confirm, because References are an important thing. ThePokémonFanSince1995 06:12, 7 April 2015 (UTC)
It's worth asking, do you even have a Gen VI game, and have you tried to evolve Malamar? You don't seem to have said that you personally evolved Malamar without doing anything special, which should be the obvious point of contention. And if you don't have personal experience that something is wrong, rather than making a big assumption and removing it from the page, it's better to post a comment on the talk page explaining your apprehensions instead. Tiddlywinks (talk) 12:04, 7 April 2015 (UTC)
Actually, no. But I can't just believe that you need to evolve a Pokémon using your gyro sensor. It would be confusing to those who are new to Pokémon, except if Nintendo or The Pokémon Company really said it in public (they would have said it in a trivia). But nah. I am now believing in you two. I hope Nintendo won't think this way of evolution in the future, even though it is for promoting the 3DS. Because it will become confusing. Atleast this is an obstacle to completing the Pokédex. ThePokémonFanSince1995 12:15, 7 April 2015 (UTC)
For the record, I saw his undoing of your edit, and he confirmed that its true. He literally did say after all that his Inkay never evolved even past level 30 when he didn't hold his 3DS upside down, and only did so once he hold his 3DS in an inverted position. There isn't really a need for complete references here, especially since Goodra and Sylveon are both examples of Pokémon that have weird evolution requirements as well that have been confirmed via gameplay. EDIT: Also to note that in regards to this evolution requirement, other websites seem to agree here. ScraftyIsTheBest (talk) 13:03, 7 April 2015 (UTC)
Let me chime in that I have attempted to evolve Malamar and did not turn the system upside down in time. It appears you have to have it upside down as the level is gained. If it's upside down at the correct moment, even if turned back around before you see the evolution screen, then it will evolve. Just turning the system upside down right before the expected evolution screen is not enough to evolve it. CycloneGU (talk) 23:52, 7 April 2015 (UTC)
