  • Due to problems related to high school and other things, I'm being quite in-active here in Bulbapedia. I'll still be online enough to feature in the Top contributors of the month list.

Welcome to Bulbapedia, Sher-e-Bengal!

As a new user, you may wish to learn a few things that will be useful in your editing:

  • For a basic overview of wiki code, see this page.
  • The manual of style is very important. Make sure to read it. It outlines all official policies of Bulbapedia.
  • The word Pokémon is spelled with a capital P and an accented é. The P, of course, is accessed easily by holding Shift and pressing the P key, while the é can be accessed using Alt + 130 or Alt + 0233 on a Windows computer, and Option + e, then e again on a Mac. Otherwise, you can click it in the character palette below the editbox.
  • On talk pages, please sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
  • The use of link templates is official policy. For an explanation on their use, see the page on shortlinks.
  • If you happen to spot a vandal in the recent changes that has not been dealt with, please see this page for how to deal with it.
  • A list of pages that are linked to, but have not been created, can be found at this page. A list of short articles that may require more information can be found here, while a list of articles that need improvement can be found here.
  • A list of the admins that you can contact if there is a problem can be found here.

Thank you, and have a good time editing here! Tina δ 05:21, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, on May and Dawn's pages, don't link to the disambiguation page for their names for the spring and shine parts, all right? That just causes problems. If someone couldn't figure out that with the other two being what they are and the third having no link and being on the page of the third girl who traveled with Ash... well, eh. They honestly should be able to. TTEchidna 14:19, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

ok...Misty-may-dawn rulz 09:33, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

Why aren't you responding to my questions? Misty-may-dawn rulz

Maybe he's not logged on.Emperor's Cookies 18:06, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
Maybe not...he may be avoiding me cause I forgot to answer to his warning early and now he hasn't answered 3 of my questions...Anyways, nice to meet one of the more experienced Bulbapedians. Hope we can be friends. Misty-may-dawn rulz 18:12, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
I dont think that he would avpid you because you ignored something, he is an admin after all...... And hello!Emperor's Cookies 18:20, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
We'll see about him later and as for the hello, I will say good-night cause it's exactly 12:00 midnight here in India, and my mother is fighting with me to push me out of the chair and shut the computer down! Misty-may-dawn rulz

Well, maybe you were right after all...he has replied to 1 of my messages! :Misty-May-Dawn rulz 06:11, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

Make it 2. :Misty-May-Dawn rulz 06:16, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

we like the same stuff

it really weird, like I was reading all the stuff about you, and it was like reading about myself! mostly all of it was true about me, except the cat one, although like all of my friends have cats so i kinda do have one but I dont.

--Hey1031 17:48, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

That's great! But some of the things have just become a little out-dated, for example, I don't like Walreins any more and instead like Dialga. Anyway, nice to meet someone like me. :Misty-May-Dawn rulz 17:54, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

A question

I have one question. Why can't I start my userpage? I'm waiting for the answer. Thanks, Genosha 12:53, 13 June 2008 (UTC)

Actually, no one can right now. The server that Bulbapedia uses has been left devastated by the huge number of userspace edits that were going on. So, they banned userspace edits for some time(Actually, it has been almost 2 months since the ban began.). For more information, follow this link - [1] Misty-May-Dawn rulz 12:59, 13 June 2008 (UTC)

I just wanted to know how you lose the privilege of editing pages when you edit one too many times and what happens when a page 'locks' because of this and how to unlock it again?

Link templates

Please use them... See shortlinks. Thanks. --electAbuzzzz (TALK) 12:56, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

First of all, that's not how you use categories. You categorize from the pages belonging to the category, not just list the pages in the category itself. What you did is an empty category. Second of all, you did an UNCATEGORIZED category. Remember to categorize. And third - why would we need such a category? These episodes don't FOCUS on Suicune. You're missing the point of these categories. --electAbuzzzz (TALK) 13:57, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

I knew I messed up these things! Can you please help me in deleting the categories?--Misty-May-Dawn rulz 14:00, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
Unfortunately I can't, because I'm not a sysop. But I marked the page for deletion, so when a sysop logs on he\she'll probably notice it and delete the page. --electAbuzzzz (TALK) 14:02, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
phew! thanks mate! I'll leave a message for TTEchidna so that he deletes it!--Misty-May-Dawn rulz 14:04, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Pokémon names plural

Pokémon names are plural in themselves. It's not "Zubats". It's just "Zubat". Remember that next time please. --ケンジガール 05:52, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for telling me. I didn't know it. I'll try to remember it next time.--Misty-May-Dawn rulz 05:54, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

leave his userpage for now, it won't matter once he's blocked. Focus on reverting his mainspace edits. --electAbuzzzz (TALK) 13:03, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

American spellings

Please try to use American spellings when editing on Bulbapedia. I.E. "color" instead of "colour." Thank you! --ニョロトノ666 14:33, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

And flavor insteadof flavour--KukiTalk 14:39, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

Actually, British/Australian English is as acceptable as American English. --Martonimos((Argh|Blargh)) 17:16, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
Is it really very important to use American English? I've problems with using it. I mean is it in the rules somewhere?--Misty-May-Dawn rulz 17:22, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
No. It's apparently not, though Bulbapedia needs a standard of some kind, and since the majority of traffic here is American, the standard should naturally be American English. I'm going to start a new discussion on the forums. --ニョロトノ666 17:26, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
OK, I'll try to make the edits in American English, but I may un-intentionally make a few mistakes.--Misty-May-Dawn rulz 17:28, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

Characters of the day

Please do not add info boxes for them. They are just not notable enough to have an infobox. The league characters of the day I will leave because they obviously have some more importance as participants. --ケンジガール 21:22, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

hey, do you want me to finish updating the page???? Dion24 09:26, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

Yes pleasssssseeeeee--M-M-DRule! 09:27, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

Do you know if there's a template for Greek?--Fern 24 07:35, 30 August 2008 (UTC)

I will find it out in a minute. Just wait.--M-M-DRule! 07:37, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
I'm sorry, but there's no template for greek.--M-M-DRule! 07:40, 30 August 2008 (UTC)

Can I make one?--Fern 24 08:06, 30 August 2008 (UTC)

I'll ask TTEchidna to make one.--Fern 24 08:53, 30 August 2008 (UTC)

I have no idea how to make one! Could you help me please?--Fern 24 10:35, 31 August 2008 (UTC)

Use this:- {{Babel N|grc|Greek language|whatever you want to show in greek}}. Hope it worked! Also, if you are not a native speaker, you will just have to replace that "N" at the start to the level you want. For example, if you just know the language, replace it with "1" and if you happen to be an expert in it, replace it with "4". One more thing. DON'T COPY THE CODE FROM THE EDIT WINDOW. JUST COPY THE CODE IN THE NORMAL WINDOW AND PASTE IT WHEREVER YOU WANT TO. --M-M-DRule! 18:32, 31 August 2008 (UTC)

User tag

Just a suggestion. Why don't you use Umbreon for the Kolkata Knight Riders tag. It has the matching black and gold color. Jmath 12:39, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

Hey good idea! Thanks--M-M-DRule! 12:40, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for nominating me. I really appreciate it! Unfortunately, I'll be going on a six-months hiatus starting November 2nd (details on my talk page), but if the bosses decide to give me powers I'll still be willing to accept. Thanks again. --electAbuzzzz (TALK) 13:37, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

You are in 10th right? or 11th? Jmath 13:46, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

Nope, 9th.--M-M-DRule! 04:11, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

How do u make a nice usertag... i preferably like simple ones like yours... can u tell me how to. Thnx. --Wowy 07:48, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

Just use {{User Template|whatever you wanna add}}

For example,

Bulbapedia logo.png This user's occupation is being a Bulbapedian

({{User Template|This user's occupation is being a |Main Page|Bulbapedian|Bulbapedia logo.png|unknown|grass|water|unknown}})--Diby 07:55, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

ok thanx--Wowy 08:00, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

Backing up the train here

Question for the serial removal of the 'Project shipping' temps from various 'ship pages: reasoning being what? ArcToraphim 15:30, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

An article can't be a stub and yet hold the Project Shipping Notice at the same time. Anyone can re-add those notices when the articles are expanded and are no longer stubs.--Diby 05:59, 6 September 2008 (UTC)
But Projects of any nature, real or virtual, are meant to build upon what's already there to make it better; what's the point of tagging a Project notice on something that's needs little to no attention? I've seen CotDs with DotD dex Project stubs; gonna fix those too? Not to mention, let's start you on a fast track to college: present evidence of this 'rule', since I don't see it as being a mandate for the Project. ArcToraphim 12:26, 6 September 2008 (UTC)
Have a look at this. What do you think now?--Diby 12:35, 6 September 2008 (UTC)
I think manga stubs can't have Manga Project temps on the say-so of a pedia moderator. Where does it say that's a requirement for the rest of the Projects, and it's not just a format choice mandated for that Project's welfare? Not to mention, there are some articles that can only go so far (the MangaShippingShipping article, for example; it could use a clean-up temp, sure, but it's not a stub when that's about all the information there will ever be on the subject), so who are you to judge what's a stub and what's an at least somewhat standing article? Especially in the 'Shipping section, where more than half are infinitely limited in information originating soley on tossaway tidbits? ArcToraphim 12:59, 6 September 2008 (UTC)
Time to ask an admin. Till they don't stop me, who are you to warn me?--Diby 13:11, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

What do you mean by:

The pics are not being shown at the top if not arranged in this way. It may cause confusion.

--tc26 08:35, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

I meant to say that if the pics were not arranged in that way (I mean two at first and then the rest), then, they are being displayed after the moveinfobox ends, leaving a lot of gap between the start of the "In the anime" section and the first row of pictures. This might cause confusion and surely doesnot look very nice.--Diby 09:27, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

Just asking. Could you update Harden? That page really needs working on. Jmath 18:33, 11 September 2008 (UTC)

Sure, but it will take some time.--Diby 18:35, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
I know. I spent a lot of time even to update just the Generation III section. Jmath 18:38, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
And I spent a whole day some days ago to update most of Roar with my stupidly slow 128MB RAM computer!--Diby 18:40, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
How can some guys do it so quickly like it was nothing? Jmath 18:44, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
For example, Moldy orange, TTEchidna, and of course, Jmath (all are top-contributors)--Diby 18:53, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
Good luck for your test. I have holidays right now but school is going to reopen soon. Jmath 19:05, 11 September 2008 (UTC)

check Rotom... thats why Dion24 12:55, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

My fault. Thanks for pointing it out.--Diby 12:56, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

Those aren't faults

The g template is exactly the same as the pkmn template; he is just using the one with less coding, so there is nothing wrong and you technically aren't changing anything. I personally write out the word Pokémon on those disambig pages, but using either of the two templates works just as well. MoldyOrange 11:51, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

I know that. I was just joking. Got nothing better to do today other than fixing those broken tutor templates. So....--Diby 11:55, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

Actually, the G template is what it should be. No reason to change it to PKMN. Check the rest of the disambigs. Even the ones that use no template at all have the word "Pokémon" listed there, like in the G template. --electAbuzzzz 11:53, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

Sorry for the double message, I was creating it at the same time as MO... --electAbuzzzz 11:54, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
Splitting hairs again... {{g}} and {{pkmn}} both link to "Pokémon X", but g displays it as "Pokémon X" while pkmn just shows "X". pkmn, then, is useful when linking to things like the anime, or breeding, while g is better for Pokémon Special or Pokémon Center. --((Marton imos)) 10:35, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
I know that. I was actually replacing the older links in Misty and Janine's pages with link templates keeping it in mind. As for now, I think instead of worrying about this, we should look out for Cyrus55 who recently vandalised Giratina's page.--Diby 10:40, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
It's always easy to confuse vandalism with good faith edits from someone who has no idea what the hell they're doing. Keep an eye on him, yes, but don't automatically assume what he's trying to do is vandalism. The line between trolls and morons is a fine one. --((Marton imos)) 10:42, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
Um..."naked form" is not vandalism?--Diby 10:44, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
Not if it's a mistranslation or fan term he's using because he doesn't know the real term. Although I admit, you've got a point.
Anyway, I apologize for my last edit to Misty. I REALLY hate redirects. One day, I plan to make an LT that will use switches to link to singular versions without using a good line's worth of code, but until then, that's the best I can do. Why couldn't the first gen games just have fit nicely into things theway Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Crystal do? --((Marton imos)) 10:55, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

Hey, what?

What did I do? PokemonTrainer7738 10:49, 21 September 2008 (UTC)PokemonTrainer7738

You edited thrice in your userspace in quick succession. We are allowed only three userspace edits per day. Instead of editing your userspace again and again, why not use the "Show preview" button?--Diby 10:51, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
I'm guessing you used {{subst:UerWarning|2}} on him, right? It looks like he only had one warning before that, though, so you should have used 1. It goes 0, 1, 2, 3, and then 3 comes with a block. It's confusing, I know, but...
Sorry if you knew all this already. Just trying to clear things up. --((Marton imos)) 11:06, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
Yeah. Guess I made a mistake.--Diby 17:23, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

Just so you know ([2]), I know completely what I was doing, and this was obvious from my edit summary and the diffs between my edit and the one prior. In the rush to reproduce Platinum information, the table had become misaligned, as a result of putting in the new row for the Sinnoh legendary birds. I fixed this. Please check carefully in future as to what you are reverting. Red username =/= n00b editor: I've been doing the original Wiki for over two years now. Thanks, -- SeriousDom 10:50, 23 September 2008 (UTC)

Episode Articles

Please don't copy and paste content from another episode article to create a new episode article. Use Template:DP episode instead. If you don't know how to use it, here's a lowdown:

  1. This field denotes the number of the episode in question. For example, for the DP104 article, the field should read 104. The previous and following episode numbers are handled automatically
  2. This field denotes the announced Japanese broadcast date. For example, if DP104 were announced for four weeks after DP100, this field would read November 27, 2008. (Note that this is in no way indicitave of DP104's actual Japanese airdate.)
  3. This field denotes the raw episode name in kanji.
  4. This field denotes the translated episode name in Roman characters. For example, if DP104's Japanese title were to translate as "Yosuga Yet Again! Moukazaru VS. Emperte?!", that translation would make up field 6 with its raw kanji as field 5. (Note that this is in no way indicitave to any actual DP104 plot.)

The template may be daunting to those unfamiliar with it, but it should grow on you after a few uses.--Shiningpikablu252 17:11, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
